Is there anyone who has access to a 3D printer or experience with 3D printing. I saw an idea for a rocket that I want to do on a smaller scale. I used an online app to make the files for these very small parts, but need some help/advice on getting them made.

Mike,

Maybe try Shapeways online if you want to try someone who does this for a living. These guys make 3D model rocket parts. I have bought a few model rocket parts from there.

Try

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/cespedesign-multimedia

Or

Let me know hwo it turns out,

Frederick

Mike,

I have a 3D printer if you wanted some help making a few parts.

Not sure where you’re located, but a couple options…

1. BLDG61 at the Boulder Public library has free classes and will print for just a small materials fee. Super-nice, helpful people. I’ve used the last cutter there for some rocketry projects.

2. I have a printer - I’d be happy to help. I’ve seen a few 3D printed rocketry options and have been interested in exploring as well.

3. Get a 3D printer - you can get a kit for under $300 and build one that does actually very decent prints. I realize that this is a whole ‘nother road, but darn it is fun. My wife named it Madge and refered to it for a while as “the other woman in my life”. Here is a brief review of what I built a year ago.

I'm in Littleton (unincorporated JeffCo) & work in Golden. I haven't seen a library near me that has 3D printers. Joe & John, I appreciate the offer. I have .stl files for both parts. There are 2 parts and I need 4 of each, but these are very small parts, the combined volume of the 2 is less than .5 cubic cm. I would assume they wouldn't take too long to print, if one of you would like to help me out.

Send over the files and I'll see what I can do.  Does ABS work for you?  I currently have bright orange, black and a little bit of light blue.  (I have some PLA and other specialty plastics, but I have best success with ABS).

If you don’t mind, send me the files too. I’ll be out of town the next few days, but will look at them after.
ABS is probably best… I only have gray right now.
Direct email is j.can...@comcast.net
