I know this is short notice, but you or any friends who happen to be in Chiapas are cordially invited to attend a performance by our new project, “Dúo de Artilugios”, (Larnie and Bodil), arte sonoro, 7:00 pm tonight, Real de Guadalupe 67 A SCLC, San Cristóbal de las Casas, for the inaugural opening of Pukuj Nucu Galeria de Gráfica.

WTF? You may ask if you’re paying attention. Briefly, the owners of our Airbnb, Santiago and Montserrat are both artists. Montserrat is working with a local impresario and artist, Max, to start a new gallery in town. As we were checking in, Max swung by to pick up a table, one thing led to another, and before long Bodil and I had a residency at Arteria Chiapas

Arteria Chiapas has a gallery, with lots of fresh and refreshing, raw, energetic, often political art, a children’s art program, and a residency for emerging indigenous artists (Like Ishmael):
