Hi Everyone ~

Interesting times we are living in. I just finished a piece that reacts to those times. Timeline starts in October 2020 and ends July 2021. It’s a bit over 16 feet in length ~ and needs a long wall to show it. I’d welcome suggestions on possible sites for it. While I was painting and drawing and collaging these panels, Bodil was winding down her mask project, and finding time to make more masks, non-functional masks, from paper and copper. I think they are really beautiful. Two of them are in Arts Benicia’s online exhibition, That Which Surrounds You

Things are opening up for us now. We both have work in Arts Benicia’s actual-art-in-real-life upcoming show, Altered Scores, a benefit for Arts Benicia and the Vallejo Symphony. My sister Colleen sent in a couple of pieces for the show, straight from the Menominee Reservation in Wisconsin.

Our symphony, the Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (Benicia Chapter) is starting rehearsals again ~ currently in Benicia’s Avant Garden, but soon in the gorgeous St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on First Street on Tuesday nights. We’re working on Verdi’s Requiem, which we will perform in November to remember all the victims of COVID. It’s a powerful, operatic piece, and this is a great time to join us ~ plenty of time to learn it even if you have never sung. Email Ringmaster Susan if you have interest or questions, <ad...@goldengatesymphony.org>.

And for music of a different sort, tune in to KALW 91.7 tomorrow, Friday 7/16/21 to hear my piece Dark Eden on Music from Other Minds, at 10pm. It’s sort of like my little-known album In the Cathedral of Airplanes, but... different.

And for music of an even different sort, Bodil and I were honored to have our performance Eclipse included in the online Maker Music Festival. We are in the Rockmore Building, lower left corner.

And even differenter ~ right before the pandemic hit, we had almost finished work on an installation of sound sculpture ~ a two person show ~ at Pro Arts in Oakland. We are now rescheduled for March of 2022. BTW, they were victims of a smash-and-grab, and lost most of their essential audio visual gear. Help them out if you can. Arts Benicia and the GGSOC have also had a rough time during the pandemic, as have many wonderful arts orgs. Be generous if you can.

So in response ~ we are thinking about running away. To Europe. Please let me know if you have any tips for sound art/sound sculpture venues or festivals we could connect with, especially in Denmark, Switzerland or Italy.

And I hope you all are re-emerging and re-imagining.

See you around...
