Anyone can provide or guide me for the legislation document (OSHA or
any) of the tower crane's allowable wind speed? As I know it will be
varying according to the manufacturer also it will be mentioned in the
operations manual. My query is, in the absence of both, Is there any
legal document are available?

Regards,

Venky

Dear Colleague,

As a guide line and with reference to "Crane stability" guides, the general rule
for the Maximum allowable wind speed for the operation is as below:

Flat Top and "A" framed (A.K.A Saddle Jib)Tower Cranes           45 MPH

Crawler Cranes (with Lattice booms) and Luffing Tower Cranes   31 MPH
Mobile Cranes                                                                             22 MPH

However, as you rightly mentioned, the manufacturer Operation Manual for the specific crane or specific "set up" MUST be referred to as the "ultimate guide".

You may be able to down load the crane manuals from the manufacturer's site
on the world wide web (Internet) or ask the manufacturers to Email you the
information on particular make or model.

I hope this has been of help to you.

Safe Regards
