AMI Upgrade Plans/How-to?

Hi,

I am looking at running a CrafterCMS Community Edition AMI on AWS but before committing to it, I wanted to know if there is any upgrade plans or documentation when a new CrafteCMS version is released on how to upgrade to this AMI?

I would like to stay up to date with releases but would not want to lose any data in the process.

Easiest is to use the built-in upgrade scripts: https://docs.craftercms.org/en/3.1/system-administrators/upgrade/index.html#running-the-upgrade-script-from-a-new-bundle (backup your machine image before upgrades!)
