mark your calendars.

Announcing the confirmation of our very first season of The (very exciting) Frock Swap!  (an organized, creative, sustainable clothing swap with quality goods!)  While I know some of you signed a volunteer list at the most recent craft meeting, not everyone could be at the meeting.  So I'm sending this out to the group and others who I thought might be interested (feel free to pass it on to others!).  If you didn't sign up at the meeting, please reply to me (Suzi) at cart...@gmail.com if you'd like to help out with the Swap.  After this I will continue correspondence regarding planning details only to those who have emailed me.

This email covers: dates, clarifying instructions and volunteer needs. It is not overly descriptive since I assume most of you already know the basic premise of the Swap.  Of course, if you have more questions, please email me personally cart...@gmail.com (not the craft listserv, unless you think it would be helpful for everyone to see).

NEXT STEP: once you email me saying you want to be involved, i'll send you the google document version of this so you can see what others are interested in doing.
Frock Swap Details
swap date & location: Saturday, April 25th from 1-4pm in the clementine lounge (creative name for our vintage boutique??)
dropoff week: April 12th through the 18th
dropoff point: clementine (clothing rack and bin/trunk inside clementine near entrance)
who can play: everyone! all genders!
how to play:
1. the selection process: choose up to 10 select items (clothing, shoes, cool housewares, jewelry and other accessories)
2. dropoff time: bring them in a bag or on hangers to clementine during "dropoff week" (see dates above) -- make sure bag is clearly labeled with your name --place items on rack or in bin
3. sign up time: sign up! be sure to fill in your name, contact info and number of items on the sign up sheet (this determines how many "tokens" you get to shop with come frock swap day
4. confirm it: you will receive a confirmation email over the weekend letting you know how many items have been accepted, thus how many tokens you will get on the 25th
5. the fun part: show up at clementine on April 25th between 1 and 4 with an eco-friendly bag. when you sign in, you'll be given your "tokens," then "shop" for your new goodies, try on in dressing rooms, enjoy a beverage in good company, then "check out" trading in your "tokens" for your stellar finds. then bask in your new wardrobe.

DON'T DROP OFF: baby or kid's clothes (maybe at another swap, but not this time around), dirty, stained, broken, damaged items. simple repairs = vintage. beyond repair = tired. (you will not receive a token for unacceptable items, nor will they be displayed at the Swap. do unto others as...)

Volunteer Needs

Flyer Design: Julia has graciously offered her services in this department. i saw her sketches tonight and they look wonderful!  flyers will be printed and ready by Sunday 3/22.

Swap Street Team:  this includes posting flyers all around town, giving and sharing flyers and swap info with friends, word of mouth, word of mouth, word of mouth!! the more people getting the word out in the next month, the better the entire event will be for everyone, no doubt. i'll make a facebook event for this once i have the flyer image.
Frock Sorters: these people will need to be available during the drop off week and on Sunday, March 19th to sort through donated items (at clementine), record how many tokens each swapper gets and organize items by type. one "sorter" will then need to take that record and email confirmations to those who donated
Boutique Designers: these people get the fun part of designing what the lounge-converted-boutique will look like!  they will need to consider flow of the space, making it interesting/artistic/fun/inviting/cute/etc, decide on music, ambiance, etc.  they will also need to gather and collect clothing racks, materials for changing rooms (keep it cheap and DIY as possible!) may also want to consider making signs if needed in the space itself

Swap Specialists: these will be the people who work in the boutique on the day of the event. this can be organized in shifts or however you want to do it. they will keep our boutique tidy, answer questions, generally keep the peace, then return the space to its regular set up after the event is over and help clean up.

Delivery Expert: anything left over will need to be taken to a surrounding second hand store and we need help getting the items there. could you do this?

all right, that's all i can think of for now. please please let me know if you have any questions. thanks for the enthusiasm thus far. i'm excited.

fun fun,
suzi

So, yes I would like to sign up and help out! I can help out with the frock sorters, the boutique designers (racks, etc), and delivery expert! So you said that the drop off week is April 12th through the 18th and under the sorters section it says something about March 19th...is that supposed to be April 19th? Just checking!

Suzi,
Sorry I'm late getting back to you. I can help as a part of the Swap Street Team distributing flyers out and about.

Suz,
I would love to help with this, but I'm working on a project with the Arts Council and picking up an odd job painting a house to save some cash for a doctors visit in FL! BUT... I have items to swap for sure. :)
