Sorry to be the bearer of sad news, but just to let you all know that John Whitney, Radegund regular and former president and founder-member of the St. Radegund Boat Club, passed away last weekend.  He was a champion of the club, tireless in his efforts to turn a bunch of drunken layabouts into a functional rowing crew (later crews), and equally relentless in his pursuit of some kind of recognition from the CRA of the time :-)  He will be missed.

THe appeal is this:  one of his friends is trying to track down his next-of-kin, and in particular his family in Ireland.  If anyone has any clue as to whom to email about that, please let me know and I'll pass it on

Very sorry to hear of John’s passing.
He’s been a pillar of club rowing in Cambridge for as long as I can remember and also a great guy to spend time with. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him in rowing and beyond.
