Students,
I trust that all of you are now registered to this group in order to receive this information. Last week I mentioned that I might be late for class this week due to flight times for my return from Gauteng. Due to some unforeseen circumstances my travel arrangements have been changed so that I will miss the lecture completely. I apologise for this inconvenience, but as promised last week, we will not waste time due to this.
I would like you to do the following "catch up and revision":
- Please ensure that you download and read through the documents published last week. This is the study material covering a historic overview of management, the nature of organisations and the hierarchies of management in an organisation. You notice that I have given fair indications on possible test questions. Please take notice of it and make sure you understand the necessary concepts. Should you have any doubt, please send me a mail so that I can guide you through it.
- At the end of the published section you will find two exercises. Please complete these two individual exercises as part of the course evaluation and submit an electronic version of your work be 18 August 2014 and a hard copy at the next lecture. As mentioned, this will count towards your year mark and is a good exercise to put the theory on organisations and principals of management in practice.
I trust that this will get us all on the proverbial same page when we meet next week. I am looking forward to reading your assignments and to assist you I have attached a copy of my crib notes on the first lecture. Please tell now one that I have given this to you.
Regards
Michel Basson
