The
Computer Professionals' Union (CPU) is a
non-stock, non-profit organization with core volunteers united in
advancing ICT for the people. We have four main programs: (1)
New Media Trainings – training non-profits and advocacy organizations in the use of various digital tools for their campagins; (2)
Project People's Web – helping create, develop and maintain web portals for various organizations and campaigns; (3)
Applications and Systems
– developing and training clients in the use of databases,
management systems, and other software for advocacy work; and (4)
Digital Resource Bureau – helping reservice old hardware, maintaining and streamlining hardware systems of CPU's network organizations.
This year, CPU is launching a new project - the
Tech4Gov
Initiative. We aim to empower communities and local government units
(LGUs) for participatory governance. Tech4Gov will provide trainings and
tools to stakeholders in realizing a transparent and accountable local
government.
The CPU Team will be attending the
27th Cordillera Day on
April 25, 2011. We aim to learn more about the conditions of the indigeous peoples'
communities in Cordillera and assess appropriate technologies and
assistance that CPU can offer.
All of the activities will be documented on the online site we are developing -
www.cp-union.com/tech4gov/cordiday.
The site will include photos, videos and narratives from participating
CPU members. This will be presented on the launching of the Tech4Gov
Initiative on May 2011.
