Central Philippine University sends Girl Scouts to the 9th National Girl Scout Jamboree in Taiwan

The Girls Scouts from Iloilo at Transworld University in Douliu City, Taiwan.
In a display of camaraderie, leadership, and cultural exchange, Central Philippine University (CPU) sent four dedicated Girl Scouts and a troop leader to participate in the recently concluded 9th National Girl Scout Jamboree organized by the Girl Scouts of Taiwan. The event took place at Transworld University in Douliu City, Yunlin County, Taiwan, from January 29 to February 2, 2024.

Last January 27th, at the GrandXing Imperial Hotel, Dr. Maredil R. Ambos, EdD, DHum, FOPd, received the prestigious “Asia’s Hero in the Fields of Education and Humanities of the Year” award. Dr. Ambos, a native of Damayan, Sapi-an, Capiz, and renowned Professional Education Subjects Coordinator at Central Philippine University’s College of Education, was recognized for his unwavering dedication to shaping the future of education as an advocate.

Pinning with pride and joy – a moment that every parent dreamed of since day one.
In a celebration filled with inspiration and commitment, the Central Philippine University College of Education held its 1st Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony last February 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Rose Auditorium. Themed “For the Future: Centralian Educators Pioneering the Change in Pedagogy at the Frontline,” the event marked a significant milestone for aspiring educators as they embarked on their professional journeys.

Packaging Professors from CPU Packaging Engineering Department attended ProPak 2024 at the World Trade Center on January 1 to February 2, 2024. Department Head Engr. Bernie Cangrejo was with Mr. Ron Adrian Dionaldo, CPP, and Mr. Danielle Dale Sentillanosa. Mr. Dionaldo served as panel member during the panel discussion on “How to Become a Globally Recognized Certified Packaging Professional.”

CPU CAO hosts international friendship organizations from Japan

Kawachinagano International Friendship Association (KIFA) and Yao International Center both from Osaka, Japan came to visit Iloilo City and stayed from January 24-29, 2024. They were accommodated at the Missionary House courtesy of Ma’am Angel Robles. The guests had the chance explore the city, enjoy the sites and tasted the different Ilonggo delicacies and native foods (Thanks to the ever- hospitable Cultural Affairs Office Director Crista S. Huyong and Artistic Director of Tumandok, Prof Randy Lero for bringing them into the highlights of Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2024). Their itinerary also included visits to the cultural heritage sites and a trip to Guimaras Island – home of the golden mangoes.

Reform organization’s outreach program ignites hope and love at Asilo de Molo

Amidst the cloudy weather, the Reform Organization took the opportunity to bring smiles to the residents of Asilo de Molo.
Last January 27, 2024, the Central Philippine University Reform Organization embarked on a heartwarming journey to Asilo de Molo, Iloilo City, as part of their “Kabugwason: AVENUE OF LIGHT’s Salubong sa Bagong Taon” outreach program. Led by Atashia Erin Sagge, Reform Organization project head, the initiative aimed to honor and uplift the elderly residents of Asilo de Molo, fostering connections and spreading joy across generations.

The CPU College of Pharmacy in collaboration with The Friends of Cancer Kids, Inc. Iloilo Foundation organized a donation drive entitled, “Parmaniyahan: A Cancer Kids Christmas Celebration Donation Drive” last December 3, 2023 in Solana Garden, Iloilo.

CPU Symphonic Band to perform at the Fine Arts for valentines

The CPU Symphonic Band ensemble will perform in front of the Fine Arts Building from 9:00AM to 11:30AM on February 14, Valentines Day. Band Master Icyn Bautista said that, “This Valentines, eight band members will perform on their specialized instruments; trumpet, saxophone, trombone, flute, guitar, vocals and piano; they are also going to play the Kundiman, OPM love songs, love songs from movies, contemporary and modern love songs that will capture the hearts and ears of listeners.”
