Dedication and commitment were celebrated as the Central Philippine University (CPU) recognized the remarkable service of its Faculty and Staff through the Long Service Awards in 2023. CPU alumnus Engr. Monserate receives PRC Outstanding Professional of the Year Award

In a momentous celebration of excellence, Engr. Juvy Monserate, PhD, an esteemed alumnus of Central Philippine University’s Chemical Engineering Batch 1987, has been bestowed with the Professional Regulation Commission’s (PRC) prestigious Outstanding Professional of the Year Award as the “2023 Outstanding Chemical Engineer.” The award ceremony took place on December 10, 2023, at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel.

Out of 187 teams from 68 universities in the Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – PICE CPU Student Chapter Team 3, representing the Central Philippine University, achieved 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 in 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗘 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 last December 10, 2023. Remembering the Hopevale Martyrs this Christmas season

The Baptist missionaries who were martyred in Hopevale in Tapaz, Capiz.
On December 20, 2023, we mark the solemn occasion of the 80th anniversary of the martyrdom of a group of American Baptist missionaries at a location known as “Hopevale” in the hills of Katipunan, Tapaz, Capiz. This tragic event claimed the lives of dedicated individuals, including Jennie Clare Adams, Prof. James Howard Covell, Charma Moore Covell, Dorothy Antoinette Dowell, Signe Amelia Erikson, Dr. Frederick Willer-Meyer, Ruth Schacht Meyer, Rev. Dr. Francis Howard Rose, Gertrude Coombs Rose, Rev. Erle Frederich Rounds, Louise Cummings Rounds, and a young boy, Erle Douglas Rounds.

The CPU Faculty and Staff gathered at the CPU Golden Lions Gym for the annual Christmas party.
As the Christmas season unfolds, the vibrant gathering of the Central Philippine University (CPU) Faculty and Staff took place on Friday, December 7, at the CPU Gymnasium. The event was infused with the theme, “Kalipay sa Panimalay sa Sini nga Paskua” (Joy in the Family at this time of Christmas).

Decopot: A Centralian’s colorful response to the pandemic

Decopot, an artistic response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, is the brainchild of Christine Jacar, a native of Balasan, Iloilo. Christine, a graduate of Central Philippine University high school batch 1991 and holder of an AB in Political Science from the same institution (batch 1996), is a self-taught and self-proclaimed artist, as well as a certified plantita. During the lockdown, planting became her therapeutic outlet, leading her to infuse her personal design into clay pots.
