I have been testing the install script, and downloading java from sourceforge seems terribly slow, but even worse the resulting file is named:
jdk-6u14-linux-x64.bin?viasf=1
And so the install will fail. So I think it will be wise to install JDK before starting the install script. And create a link in apps/thirdparty/jdk/platforms to where it lives.
The old bin file installs wherever it was run.
However, if you install Oracle rpm, it will go to /usr/java/latest
openjdk-8 will also work, and that will be in /usr/lib/jvm/default
