Dear CPSeis Users,
I was given permission from ConocoPhillips to open-source-license their seismic processing system in 2008 and at that time I put the code on SourceForge. After CoP laid me off in March of 2009, I took the time to streamline the installation and clean up the code somewhat. (Ha! And you think it is a horrible installation system now... you should have seen it.)
Many thanks to all the users who have persistently found and fixed bugs, added new processes, and tested it on new operating systems.
At 70, and having been retired since 2021, it is time to call it a day and let someone take over both this user group on Google and the SourceForge project. Several of you have been quite prolific in recent years and I thank you... because I don't have the time for it. I've found that retirement is much busier than working life, and I can't keep up with the software.
Please contact me if you have interest in being the keeper of the flame. I think the system is useful but as one of the early team members, I am biased. I hope it has helped many of you make some good money processing seismic or pursuing research. That was my goal in making it open source.
I'll keep everything running for now, but would really like for someone else to take it so that I can shut down my accounts. I look forward to watching others do it all ... better, faster, and with enthusiasm!
Sincerely,
Bill Menger
