Dear
Sir, Madam,
The United Nations Environment Programme is conducting a global survey on
sustainable/green public procurement. The purpose of the survey will be to
identify and map all relevant stakeholders, as well as their activities in the
field of sustainable procurement. The survey will be used to validate and
strengthen a UNEP Report on the “State of Play on Sustainable Public
Procurement” written by Dr. Anastasia O’Rourke, Big Room Inc. and Dr. Charlotte
Leire.
As you may know, accessing reliable and current information on activities and
organizations involved on sustainable public procurement has been a
longstanding request from all SPP stakeholders. The report on “State of Play on
Sustainable Public Procurement” will help meet this need by gathering and
analyzing ongoing SPP/GPP activities around the world. The survey and report
highlight the evolution of SPP/GPP implementation in recent years by
investigating current trends, challenges, opportunities as well as the way
forward to accelerate the uptake of SPP. By researching the state of play in a
great number of countries it will also allow for an enhanced global perspective
on the challenges and the opportunities for SPP.
As a key stakeholder in this field, your participation in the survey is
paramount for the success of this project. Your thoughts and opinions will be
of great value for us and the SPP community as a whole. The survey will bring
further visibility to your ongoing activities, and will help rally political
support for the continuing implementation of sustainable public procurement.
The results of the survey and the report will be made available to all
participants.
We would appreciate your response to the survey by Friday October 5th 2012.
We remain at your disposal, should you have comments and/or questions regarding
this activity.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for your time and
interest.
Yours sincerely,
Farid Yaker Programme Officer
