Community meeting

All,

Please be advised that some on Ellwood Ave. received a flyer announcing a community meeting slated for 6:30 pm on February 5 @ Edgewater HS for the purpose of discussing the incoming WaWa gas station and "proposed rezoning" of the southwest corner of 441 & 50.  Googling this will get you nowhere!

I shall raise this issue Monday night.  Why has our commissioner not given us a head's up on this?

Monday night?  Is the regular meeting always on the first Monday of the month?  Is the location at the community center again?  I work late on Tuesdays so I won't be able to make the meeting on the 5th.

You raise a good point. Just who, oh why, has our illustrious Commish elected to not say anything? Or, could it be that he is a bit timid to put himself out there after the public flogging he got over 7-11, which is far from over. Could it be that . . . dare I say it? . . . Elections are not that far off and he has already been exposed?? 

Will you be there Monday? I'd like to see you stand and pose that very question to him. I know that part of the meeting will be a recap of the progress we have made with 7-11 as well as other business developments on Colonial.

Did you see there is a contract pending on Wendy's? I can't get a return call from the broker. I have placed two nice calls to him, I may have to raise the temperature with some of the higher execs I know in their corporate office. If this person is playing coy - I'll flush him. 

Do we know why this group is wanting to postpone WA-WA? The site is tremendously large. The location is Main and Main from a traffic flow standpoint. The problems are the obvious, the higher end customers they would prefer to attract don't want to come get gas/coffee/etc., and deal with the riffraff that makes up the surrounding community.

Just curious. I think it is a great idea personally. It may put the franchise 7Eleven out of business or force them to clean up. The extra highly visible business in the area is not bad and would continue to add to police coverage. Speaking of which, 7Eleven must be doing a good job as there is not a day go by that I don't see a cruiser in their lot w/some pert draped across the hood, like a deer in hunting season. 

With the exception of a what we believed to be a "working lady" last week on Edgewater, the number of sidewalk cruisers is down significantly. Maybe there is a correlation. Once can only hope. 

I am reaching out to 7Eleven again today for an update on the issues so I can report on Monday.

Keep the pressure on folks. We are proving to a handful of naysayers (names excluded on purpose) that YOU CAN get things done without elected goons. That is just part of the illusion they want you to believe. (Their form of job security).
