HI neighbors!
I just wanted to pass this along in case anyone else is tired of being startled awake at 2:30am by the dumpsters being dropped like nuclear bombs at the 7Eleven in the middle of the night.
I called 7Eleven today to speak with the manager. I asked her if she could call the City to arrange for their trash to be picked up during the daytime as I was jolted from my sleep again in the middle of the night. She suggested that I call them. I said that I thought it might have more weight coming from the account holder, she thought it would have been better coming from the community, but she would give them a call anyway. (I got the impression that she was not going to follow through on that promise).
I was able to speak to Charles Wade, the Assistant Division Manager at Solid Waste. He was very helpful and apologetic and said that he would investigate on my behalf if that was one of his trucks or an outside vendor. Below is his follow up email.
The noise coming from the 7Eleven at night from the trucks for delivery and trash pick up is awful! When the doors to the back of the trucks drop and slam shut in the middle of the night, it is enough to wake me up out of a sound sleep from a 1/2 block away.
Again, this is another drawback to another 24 hour business like WaWa going in at OBT and Colonial and I would encourage everyone to not patronize these businesses being in our neighborhood. Besides the undesirable threshold they create to our doorstep, they disturb the peace for those living along the edge of College Park. If you live on the other side of town, these annoyances are what you have to look forward to with a WaWa being constructed.
In Peace,
Angela

I sent an email to our commercial supervisor instructing him to place a notice sticker on the dumpster to remind the drivers to refrain from dumping the box at the 7-11 before 7 a.m. If you have any further incidents, please let me know and i will provide the driver appropriate discipline. I apologize for the inconvenience and waking you so early in the morning.
