Thanks Alex...
Further to this, I have been on the roster since the last mail out about kitchen/roster duties and have noticed that rather than putting their names down for the remaining jobs that are left, i.e. kitchen duties (on the main roster and the meal roster), people are simply writing down things like 'Backup in case so and so goes missing' or 'I want to be a bartender on thursday night' or 'Emergency back up'. I recognise that some of this is in jest but the big picture is far from funny and I am starting to lose patience.
I am going to do my very best to explain things AGAIN, so people 'get it'.
The bartender jobs are the most popular. The people that are in early, coming to meetings, helping out get first pick because they are the first people who bother to sign up to the google group and get their names on the crew list.
The kitchen jobs are the shitty jobs (ie cleaning up after other peoples mess). These inevitably are taken up by people who come in late, last minute and want in. The best of us put our hands up for these less popular jobs with a glad and happy heart.
BOTH JOBS ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT TO WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE HERE.
If we can all just put aside our personal agendas for one second and get involved by contributing to what the collective requires then everything will be peachy.
Core crew have been busting their arses to make this happen, please don't take the wind out of their sails at the 11th hour by being backward about coming forward... if this is too much for you, if you think we're being authoritarian and you don't like the tone of this email, if something doesn't feel right to you that's absolutely fine by us! Please remove yourself from the crew list immediately and expect a full refund of your $50. Otherwise, SORT IT OUT. There are 110 people camping with us. There are about 85 jobs (including 10 by core crew that are not on the roster). There is almost ONE job for each person. So far there are 15 jobs available - please put your name to one of the ROSTERED jobs if you have not done so.
Thank you for your consideration
