FYI ….

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has identified urban informatics (including GIS/remote sensing/urban AI) as a strategically important area in its Society Hub .  We have multiple open rank tenure-track positions (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor/Chair Professor), and ideally would like to recruit a leading scientist, who can assemble a research team with an active research program.  Candidates with industrial or university-industry partnership experiences are encouraged to apply.

HKUST is a world class research institution with over 500 faculty members.  HKUST(GZ) is located in Nansha, Guangzhou, is scheduled to formally open in the fall of 2022. At the end of the first phase of 5 years, the campus will have 400 faculty members and 4,000 research postgraduate students. The position will be housed in the Society Hub with the primary affiliation in the thrust area of Urban Governance and Design, and possible secondary affiliations in the informatics Hub.

HKUST offers a very competitive starting salary. Depending on qualification, rank and experience, starting salary is generally comparable or even higher than the average starting salaries in Tier I research universities in the US. The University offers generous retirement and medical/dental benefits. Additionally, it offers sabbatical leave and campus housing benefits.

Application Procedure

Applicants should have an earned PhD degree in a related field. Interested candidates are invited to upload a full curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching, and the names and contact information of at least three referees. For inquiries, please send to laur...@ust.hk.  Review of applications will start immediately and will continue until all the positions are filled.
