Dear Friends,

As in every year, Hostel Office will be doing room verification to make more no. of rooms available for allotment to students. To keep minimum disturbance to the students, SC Hostel Committee/Student volunteers along with Chairman, CoW will be sitting in between A&B messes during lunch hours and Tea time on July 21st and 22nd. We will be having all the residents' list block wise. What each student should do is
  1. Take the file of your hostel block (For eg: U block)
  2. Look into your room no. and ensure that your name is there
  3. Show the id card/Room allotment letter and sign besides your name.
Done:). Only 10 seconds and it will avoid knocking of your doors by Wardens.

PS: As per request from few Girl students, Ladies hostel room shift (according to room availability) and allotment to last batch of EFP block residents (~30 in nos) will be done tomorrow. The students from these blocks who did not turn up earlier (as they did not get new room of their choice), can also approach hostel office tomorrow evening. They may allow room change if room is available. From 25th to 30th, rooms will be allotted to new students as soon as they arrive. Kindly do not disturb Hostel Office staffs during those days. Because, SC has promised new students that, we will take care of them till they settle in the campus. For the same, we need cooperation and full support from Student Community. As new Hostel blocks get ready (30th August??), all the problems of room shortage will get sorted out.
Let us hope for the best!

With warm regards

Dear Sir
I have some suggestion in this regard for the checking. Like we do the help the needy collection and other collections near the messes, shall we sit near the messes on the first two days because every one will be floating around there near the messes. Any ways one of us need to stay near the hostels. We seek help from the hostel office staff. This will give more throughput as the verification is must.

The way this will be executed will be to make the excel sheet of the hostel residents and load it into one of our laptops. I am ready to bring mine.

Please give your opinion on this.

Thanks and regards

Dear Friends,

We request  all the students to go thru below points for your information. Thanks a lot to Prof. Umarji for inviting Mess Committee Members (Major part of SC) and Hostel Committee members for 2 imp meetings today.

First of all, Students' Council places our sincere thanks to Chairman, CoW for making the room allotment for EFP residents happen at the earliest following the request from students. I must appreciate all the officers and staffs of Hostel office for taking extra burden to smoothen the process in spite of the difficulties caused to them due to infrastructural limitations of the institute (which is not their fault).

  1. It is heartening to know that enough rooms are made available in N Block for UG students without sacrificing anyone's interest.
  2. Once room allotment of EFP residents is over (Monday), there will be room verification of all the Hostel blocks to make more rooms available. In order to avoid the disturbance being caused to students by knocking their doors, students can go and sign the list in Hostel Office along with Room allotment letter/ Identity card on 26th&27th July. Only those rooms will be checked whose occupant has not signed. It will enhance Hostel Office to get information of unoccupied rooms which can be effectively used.
  3. Those students who stay back in E Block will get a room partner at the time of admission. All new students (joining next week) allotted E block will be shifted to upcoming hostel once it is ready (by Aug-Sep). Then, old students can also go to those blocks provided they have to dine in upcoming messes. What to do with E block? Decision not taken yet.
  4. Extra care has been taken to ensure that the room allotment for new students will not affect the existing students. Around 120 rooms already booked in Jalahalli (with bus service). There is plan to hire some more apartments till new blocks get ready.
  5. There will be an increase in crowd (from August 1st week) in all existing messes till new messes get ready. Mess Committee members along with Supervisors are trying their best to handle the situation. We will have to adjust for 2 months as we cannot deny food to our newly joining friends.
  6. Subsidy for Electricity & Water for new messes were requested by SC. The decision was taken by Institute long back and Admin is not ready to look it back as they already floated the tender (bid was opened today infront of mess committee). We will have to collectively think of solutions to avoid the future chaos due to disparity in rates of existing messes and upcoming messes.
Get back to us for any query.

Only request to Concerned Authority is to look on the situation at least 3 years ahead and plan accordingly.

With Warm Regards
Sincerely
Sreevalsa Kolathayar
