Good call by Nick F. rallying Tyler, myself and my tandem passenger to the coast today. We passed up CLO at 11am as it had almost no wind and no beach. Parked at Pacific City and hiked to Kiwanda. The dune was in awesome form - super steep wall of sand at the upper half of the bowl made for good soaring. Tyler did his usual: A spot-on impression of a monkey being drug across the dune by a U-turn Thriller. I learned how to kite up a dune with a tandem passenger (although it never became not awkward so I doubt I learned the right way.) and Nick dialed in his no-look ground handling skills.
At 3:30 we turned our attention back to CLO and all enjoyed 30-60 minutes of perfect NNW 10-12mph CLO with abundant lift and even some intermixed bubbles of goodness.
Nick tried out my Niviuk Takoo2 39m and showed us how a large Reynolds number and trimmers up on and EN C tandem can outperform a DHV 2/3 - the guy literally left a contrail of sparkles as he raced around the sky. It was awesome. Spectators wept.
