The donated Davis system is failing (again). I've had it repaired 3 times now but it just does not seem robust enough for that installation location. Cliffside sees some pretty extreme weather through the year. We've got the wind speed/direction working again but usually that goes pretty quick after the other stuff.

We got a pretty good run out of this last repaired system - about 14 months I think. It's usually about $130 to have it repaired each time. I am considering swapping out the Davis for a Peet Bros system which are supposed to be pretty robust. The cost of that system would be around $500.

This time around I'd like the club to cover the cost so I thought I would put it out for discussion. What way should we go? Keep repairing the Davis or try something else? Or give up entirely? What say you?

Michael, Thanks for checking up on it this weekend (and awesome flight!!).

I'll add it as topic to next month's meeting (Sept) and see what we can do to get that upgraded or a plan in place for sure. I appreciate all the maintenance, time, and i'm sure money, that you have put into it thus far man! Hit me up offline if you think we should move quicker than next meeting and we can figure something out. :D

We don't fly Cliffside very much anymore. (Definitely not nearly as much as we want to!) Damn long drive for us. :-(

That said, the weather station is awesome, and totally has our support. If it needs a more robust system, you can count our our vote.
Thank you so much for your efforts to maintain it.

Hi Michael (and fellow flyers)

The Club voted this week unanimously 'yes' this week for up to $500 to help get any new equipment for the Cliffside weather station. Lot's of thankfulness all around the efforts, time, and money you have put in over the years out there. I'll reach out to you 1:1 and make sure we get things covered and/or help on getting things rolling. Many Thanks sir!

If the new station costs more than the $500 I'm also willing to be part of a collective contribution to cover the extra costs. Don't want Michael to have to pay it out of his pocket on top of doing the work. Didn't he say it will cost "about" $500?

That's great news. I have enjoyed the project and I've learned quite a bit. Happy to keep it going forward. I'll be out of town for a while but when I get back I will order up the new weather gathering part of the station and we can go from there.

Thanks to all for the support!!
