We had a tree landing at the Oceanside Open on May 6th. Recovering the wing involved cutting the tree some. Permission was granted from the home owner before this was done.
Unfortunately it turned out the tree was actually on the neighbors lot and that home owner is upset. It was a planted landscape tree, not a native. I'm working damage control but just wanted to get the message out: If you land in a tree on private property make every effort to remove the wing without cutting the tree, then seek owner approval. If no one is there, try the neighbors. Lots lines can be very irregular on rural property so be aware. We are technically trespassing and causing property damage if we cut trees.
We did the right things in this case but still ended up in a problem situation. Murphy's Law.
