As I read your reports about how you are getting along with the parks staff at Yaquina, haven't been there yet, it reminds me of the situation up here in Wa. at Fort Flagler, near Port Townsend.  Our local club, RPC, worked for years to get approval for pg and finally was successful.  With the recession the parks are looking for any creative ways to get people to come and recreate and pg is finally moving into the recreational mainstream.  At Fort Flagler they let us groom the launches, 4 of them, cut trees, they have so many of them they actually like to have us cut them down to improve the views.  During the year we volunteer for work parties to help out with maintenance.  Hope to get down there some day.
