telegram thread

I am posting a telegram discussion here as it is a better spot for it.  Sorry for those of you not on telegram as the context is missing.

 

Since I created the group it sounds like I am being called upon to respond maybe?  I did create this group on behalf of the club.  My intention is not to set the tone for this group as it really belongs to the club.  We all set the tone!!  The about page on our website http://cascadeparaglidingclub.org/about/  does list the forms of club related communication available and how I envision each to be most useful.  Obviously things evolve and there is no be all end all for how we communicate.  I do think this type of communication is most useful on the google group so I will merely copy this and send via cp...@googlegroups.com.  I think photos can be usuful in the moment but longer discussions lead to information of more immediate importance getting lost in the shuffle. This is because we cannot seperate conversations within one group like we can in our google groups (and even facebook).  I do not intend to censor discussions here unless there are posts that are completely inappropriate or harassing in nature.  I would also appreciate if all discussions were civil and that we don't mock people who are trying to make a serious point.  Thank you ... peace out!

Another option that I mentioned to Etch is stealing the idea of a “Parawaiting” thread  from the Bay Area pilots on telegram that is used for more side conversations etc. This allows the people to pick and choose the notifications they would like to receive. I definitely don’t want to make the club communications more complex than necessary but thought I would throw it out there for club discussion.

Maybe call it "parawaiting chatterbox" .. if we did it we wouldn't link it to the chat box on the web page ... I would just post the link once or twice and let it spread by word of mouth so that we don't clutter the more important club communication channels too much.
