Myself, Dirk, David, Nick, Alan, Jennifer, Mike, George, Sarge, Neil & Julian all eventually met to fly.  The original forecast (if the forecast for the night before can be considered original) called for NW winds down at the Oceanside-Cape Lookout stretch.  The morning forecast turned a little more WNW early on so Dirk, David, Nick and I checked Oceanside first just in case.  Winds were light and mostly a little cross.  Dirk and I each did a practice forward launch that included close up views of the salal (no landings there though).  We then went to CLO were winds were very light and a little cross from the WSW.  We then went to Tierra Del Mar where winds were very south (we though maybe helped by a cell to the south).  Back up to CLO (where we waited out a squall) then Oceanside were winds hadn’t changed much but there were more flying friends to wait with.  One by one we eventually starting taking sledders optimistically hoping that is was a warm up to kill time before it got soarable.  It never got soarable but we eventually extended the sled rides by about 30 seconds and resigned ourselves to a sled fest with a spot landing contest:  Lots of people landed inside the target or close (some also landed perfectly centered on a double-top-secret bulls eye created for advanced pilots).  David Le & Neil did the majority of retrieves enabling us pilots to get back up quickly with wings ready to go.  The sled fest lasted until nearly sunset having to wait out rain cells a couple times.  Lots of crucial launch and landing practices occurred which apparently entertained the beach goers quite a bit. It was days like yesterday were you we really appreciated what we have.  While we may have been disappointed by a lack of soaring flights (and I may have obnoxiously complained about the type of beer available after flying), the parawaiting was fantastic as we chit chatted and entertained ourselves over the wondrous oceans views and sunbeams dancing on the clouds!  I am still smiling!

ps. I am curious about the details for Area B as that looked like it had potential also from the wind readings we were seeing.

Thanks for the report.  Here is the Oceanside report from Friday:
Jay, Kim and I drove out.  Beautiful day but light conditions.
Kim had 3 short flights (her first time here).  Jay and I had 2 each.
On the last flight Jay pulled off a super cross wind launch.  It had turned
south and with some clouds got cooler.  This enabled him to soar on the
south facing cliff (house on the hill) until he decided to land.
Dinner at the Pelican pub, then we drove home.

Last Friday,
Pete Powers and I cleared the launch at Rock Creek for a couple hours waiting for the western forecast to show up. It never did. Sledders back to the trucks. Beautiful day.
