Subject: Freeflyers at Rat Race

Dear Pilots,

Rat Race is around the corner, the excitement is building and we wanted
to update everyone on the pilot list and  ask for your help with spreading the word about launch protocol for 2012.

First of all, We are thankful for our partnership with RVHPA, local wineries, and BLM. As part of our yearly BLM permits, the Rat Race has paid substantial
daily use fees for the mountain over the past 10 years.  This year BLM
announced that they would reinvest over $4000 of the 2011 competition
fees back into improvements at launch.  They have also committed to
invest this years contribution of up to $5000 pending final decision
from BLM management.

This year the Rat Race has taken on a slightly different model of
organization.  The significant change will be the transportation and
parking at launch.  After a lengthy discussion and advice from BLM, the
permit for 2012 Rat Race will be an exclusive use permit and thus will
impose stricter guidelines for access to launch during the busiest hours
of the event.  We will need to limit the number of cars at launch for
practical and safety concerns.

These changes will not affect the local club members, defined as those
pilots that live in Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Siskiyou County. For
these local pilots “Vehicle Launch Passes” will be provided. So, for most freeflyers the staging area for transportation will begin at Fiasco winery.

All free flyers will be required to shuttle to the top from Fiasco or Rat Race Headquarters depending on their level of involvement.

Thanks for your help.  Again, please forward this information to your friends or clubs in the event you know of freeflyers who plan to join the fun at Nationals 2012.
