Seven straight flyable days. Yesterday was rockin' up over Coopers with two hangies (one on a cool little Atos-C) who were trying to get from Lumby to Savona (Kamloops). It was the day for it with light winds and abundant lift to 12, maybe 14K, nice little cummies lining up from here to yon. Last I saw they were specks high over Silver Star looking to jump north towards Mara. I couldn't push through about 8k for some reason, so toured the valley and ridge towards King Eddy and back. Hit 1400 fpm for one brief moment but most peaks were about 1k up and down. Landed at 2:30 and could have spent the rest of the day in the sky, but it was time to head S.
If you're ever interested in flying the Okanogan, check out the Lumby air force.
www.lumbyairforce.com Randy Rauck will set you up, and you can camp at his place for $10. Fly Coopers in the am, Mara or King E in the pm, or just launch Coopers early and stay up all day.
