OHPA way more fun! How about a choice
for none of the above on the name change and more discussion? How
many people voted for each of these three choices? How many voted
at all?
I am all for multi-gender, multi-national games, being an advocate for neglected abused children not big on cat fanciers federation. Free flyers what is free about it? Cascade Air sports? sounds like some strange Scandinavian flatulence society.

My guess is that 4 obtuse rounds of voting and a multitude of choices and disagreement will mean no 55% majority and no name change...?
Whatever, the club is about pilots joining up to fly and exchange info, doesn't really matter to me what we're called.

I agree with Matt completely. Our voting strongly suggest apathy -
the total number of members who have voted in any one round is less
than 50%. But I am not convinced that our name is primarily
responsible for keeping hang glider pilots from joining our club. I
am equally not convinced that a new name will change much - I saw no
participation in last month's meeting by the hang gliding community,
no rush of hang glider pilots to join the club during the voting
rounds, and barely any input on this or any other forum concerning
what we are trying to do. Without stronger support from the hang
glider community, I also doubt much will change. Maybe I'm wrong or
am missing something. I am ready to be enlightened.

I was at the meeting where Rob Stephens mentioned that the few remaining OHGA members would be interested in integrating with the CPC.
I don't remember him or their club expressing any need for the name to change other than we all though it might be a nice gesture to be more inclusive.
Maybe that's why you are not seeing many HG pilots participate in the name change - they aren't already CPC members, and cannot vote? Or they don't really care what the name is, just wanted to be part of a more cohesive club?
Obviously they are more than welcome - especially since Rob was more or less offering to combine their rarely used bank account balance with ours. :)
More pilots, more flying, getting to fly with and hear about hangs - sounds good to me. I'm not too wrapped up in our name...

The information just isn't getting out. No one on the ohga list knows
anything about the voting. I'll try to get Dave to join the ohga
list, or get a volunteer who is on both lists who will reliably
forward all the voting related emails. But, the voting appears to be
open to CPC members only. If so, then that has a lot to do with it.

Our bylaws say that 55% of our members must vote to make a major change like to our name. Other's opinions are always to be valued, of course, but if they aren't members, they don't have much skin in the game. If they don't know about our reaching our to the Hang community, then they didn't see my post on OHGA (I am a member) or the many posts on CPC. Makes sense that if they don't come to meetings or participate in community functions and aren't aware of our group posts, then they probably are not interested in joining.
