I’ve been down in flying in the Owens valley with Kari Castle guiding this week.
Four of us flew with Kari today and we all had personal bests for distance. We all had flights over 100k flying the Sierra side of the valley. Pretty easy if you can deal with the bumps along the way. My peak climbs were less than 4 meters per second (800 fpm). The launch from Walts started smooth but there were a few rough spots and low saves along the way. I landed northwest of Bishop gliding as far as I possibly could before turning back into the wind to land. Some 75 cows wandered over from the far side of the landing field to check me out.
A link to the flight is attached. http://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/679119
It was great to have the 100k flight and reach a personal goal I had been working on for three years but the scenery was just fantastic.
Now I just need 100k flights from Mt Borah, Mt. Seven, and Pine before I think of some new ones.
