At 10:30 or so I was idly doomscrolling when it came to my attention that Hood River would have sunny skies and only moderate west winds. An hour later I was driving toward Skyline Hospital in White Salmon. Nice hike over about 1.5 hours to the west launch where I found 5-10 mph west winds. Easy launching conditions… I could only soar out in front of the lower tree line, as is often the case, but periodic eagle containing thermals added a lot of interest out there. Spent a pleasant 45 minutes out there by myself with the birds. As I was walking back up the road to the car I noticed two other pilots flying, around 4 PM… looked a bit lighter that when I was there but they were each able to keep altitude for a while. Nice day out there. -Pete
