Hello,

I want to know how the cPath plugin for Cytoscape communicate with
the database.
Is it a direct connection or it is using the web-service and
communicate using SOAP ?.

I downloaded the available source codes and also the plugin. However, I
was unable to find the plugins source code, may be I am looking at the
wrong place. I will be grateful if you help me to locate it.

Thank you in advance.

Sabry.

Hi Sabry,
You can find the source code to the cpath plugin in the PSI-MI plugin
source code release,
http://www.ebi.ac.uk/~nvinod/psi_mi_release/Cytoscape_psi_mi_plugin2_5_src.z
ip (There is a link to it from the cytoscape plugins page under PSI-MI
plugin). The cpath plugin is part of the dataviewer package. (I think the
cpath and psi-mi plugins rely on some of the same libraries so they were
grouped together).
The cpath plugin communicates using a web-service. If you don't have your
own instance of cpath there is a public version at
http://cbio.mskcc.org/cpath/webservice.do?cmd=help that the plugin can
communicate with.

Hi Sabry - An updated version of the source code is now (as of last
week) available via the Cytoscape Subversion repository. It was updated
to make use of the latest Java XML libraries in Java 1.5 for the
upcoming release of Cytoscape 2.4

http://chianti.ucsd.edu/svn/coreplugins/trunk/cPath/

In Cytoscape 2.4, cPath is available via File->New->Network->Construct
network from cPath...

Hope that helps,
Gary
