From Friends of Metro Schools/Stand for Children:
As you’ve heard, Metro Schools could be facing a $35 million budget
shortfall. Please join us on March 29 to learn more. By the time of
our meeting, the school board will already have voted on the school
budget. Friends of Metro Schools, a coalition of many community
organizations, is coming together to ensure that schools are a top
priority as the budget goes to Mayor Dean and Metro Council.
Register today at www.stand.org/tn/friendsmeeting for a March 29
Friends of Metro Schools Membership Meeting addressing the potential
school funding crisis.
When: 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 29
Where: The Martin Center, 2400 Fairfax Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212
Why: Come and hear from Dr. Register and other officials about the
current school funding situation. Last week Metro Schools presented
their mid-year report to the Metro Council Budget and Finance
Committee. While consumer spending in Nashville has improved, sales
tax revenues still fall short of paying for part of the school
district’s $620.7 million budget.
Free on-site childcare provided only with advanced registration.
Please forward this e-mail to your networks and ask them to sign up
for our Friends of Metro Schools list to be informed and activated on
school funding issues. Sign up at www.stand.org/friendsofmetroschools
