PLEASE VOTE for Denver Police District 2 OFFICER OF THE MONTH!

Officer of the Month Nominations are chosen by review of daily, weekly and monthly District 2 Command staff notes, highlighting significant officer interactions on calls for service.  During these reviews, and unsolicited, command staff make note of exceptional police work.  At the end of each month command staff decides to select three officer interactions they feel are most worthy of positive recognition. These are the 3 nominations you see each month, being nominated for officer of the month.

All DPD District 2 community members and businesses are encouraged to vote! One vote per household please. To vote, reply to this email (christie...@denvergov.org) with "Nomination A" or "Nomination B" or "Nomination C".  Please vote for only ONE nomination.  All votes must be received by December 30, 2025 - Thank you for participating!

Nomination A: Officer David Borrego and Officer Veronica Villalobos

While Officer Borrego and Officer Villalobos were on patrol near E Colfax Ave and N Willow St., they observed a suspicious vehicle driving erratically through the neighborhood. A records check showed the vehicle was flagged as a vehicle of interest in a hit-and-run investigation. After a traffic stop was initiated, officers noticed the driver trying to conceal an unknown item under his seat. During the investigation, the driver was removed from the vehicle and officers noticed he had an empty handgun holster tucked in his waistband. A records check found the driver to be wanted on a warrant and a stolen handgun was located in the vehicle after officers conducted an inventory search prior to towing. Further investigation confirmed the driver was a convicted felon, making him ineligible to possess a firearm. The District Attorney’s Office accepted charges for possession of a weapon by a previous offender and possession of a large capacity magazine.

Nomination B: Corporal Cameron Veeder

Corporal Veeder was on routine patrol near E Bruce Randolph Ave and N Downing St when he observed a male riding a bicycle who matched the description of a suspect in seven business burglaries in the Five Points neighborhood. Upon contact with Corporal Veeder, the male discarded his bicycle and ran, throwing his backpack, tools and narcotics. After a short foot chase, the male was arrested, identified, and found to have several active warrants for his arrest. During the search and follow up, Corporal Veeder was able to locate several unique identifiable items in the suspects possession which tied him back to the string of business burglaries in the Five Points Neighborhood. Due to his vigilance and thorough investigation, the arrest of this suspect led to the closure of seven burglaries.

Nomination C: Officer Jordan Tran and Officer Alec Olguin

While on patrol near E 36th Ave and N Quebec St, Officer Tran and Officer Olguin received a Flock notification that a vehicle in the area was associated with a party wanted for threats. Officer Tran and Officer Olguin began canvassing the area and located the vehicle leaving a 7-11 parking lot. After observing a traffic violation, officers conducted a traffic stop and contacted two occupants, one of which was the female party wanted for threats. During their investigation, officers located various pieces of drug paraphernalia, suspected narcotics and 2 handguns along with ammunition. The second occupant was found to be a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was charged with possession of a weapon by a previous offender, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a defaced firearm. The female occupant was jailed for her warrant and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
