Thank you for the invitation!

Any update on the North bound Downing RTD stop being included & relocated?
If I'm not mistaken, that will be the only one of the four at that intersection that won't be upgraded.
If possible, could it maybe be relocated to the South of 1st and the slip lane get eliminated?

Thanks in advance!

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

PS: I think it would be good if someone could post the info in https://www.reddit.com/r/DenSoutheastCentral/ or  https://www.reddit.com/r/VisionZeroDenver/ & then we could cross-post to relevant subreddits.

Hello Emily,

Any updates on what was presented at the Open House? I don't see anything on the website.
https://denvergov.org/Government/Agencies-Departments-Offices/Agencies-Departments-Offices-Directory/Department-of-Transportation-and-Infrastructure/Programs-Services/Projects/1st-Ave-Redesign

I still think it is important to shift the bus stops on the 12 Route running North/South onto the overpass to reduce the distance people need to travel when transferring & limit the number of crosswalks they need to navigate. I believe this can be achieved by repurposing the right lanes on each overpass as bus stops. We could also eliminate the slip lane on Downing, turning onto 1st Ave, making that corner safer for people waiting to cross to the bus stop or using the trail.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

Thank you for that info! It's greatly appreciated!

As for posting to Reddit, I'm no longer able to do that. That's why I'm inviting others instead. I've BCC'd some local folks to maybe make the posts. Hopefully, someone is willing to do that in one or both of those linked locations.

I'll have to walk or ride down there again.
I wonder if it would be possible to build out a platform on the overpass above the Cherry Creek Trail with the sidewalk & bike traffic behind it.
This would ideally reduce or even eliminate conflict between riders & pedestrian traffic, while at the same time moving that stop closer to the East & West bound stops on 1st. Just a thought...

Sorry in advance for fixating so much on this issue. I think it's important for those riders & it's a personality flaw of being on the spectrum.

Cheers,
Bryan Wilson

Hi Bryan,

As a project team, we focus on more traditional outreach channels, but we would appreciate it if you could post the flyer on the Sub-Reddit account.

I did circle up with the project team and here are a few minor updates regarding your previous question:
  • When funding is available to relocate and reconstruct bus stops, DOTI and RTD follow NACTO guide for best practices on bus stop placement.
    • NB RT volumes will need to be collected. High RT volumes can produce an unsafe condition for nearside bus stops
  • The Denver Sidewalk Program has identified sidewalk improvements for Country Club neighborhood: N Downing St, Speer Blvd to E. 3rd Ave (east side). This will provide much needed connectivity to the existing bus stop location.

Thanks,
Emily

What about the announcement invite on Reddit?

I can give either of you access to do by sending me your username or just requesting to post in the Sub-Reddit.
