Thank you for the update!

Would it be possible to have a follow-up on where we stand with Denver Deserves Sidewalks, the Denver Moves Bikes Update, & LAMAR taking over management of some bus stops and ensuring that they clear them of snow and ice?

Specifically, some sidewalks in Congress Park are not set back from the roadway and this is especially true as soon as we leave Congress Park. Will these be set back from the roadway to make them safer for pedestrians and allow room for trees to be planted in a tree lawn?
What are the plans to address encroachments either installed or planted in the public right-of-way that obstruct future sidewalks from being installed?

For the Denver Moves Bikes Update, there are some adjustments that need to be made to the plans for connections through Congress Park while also addressing outstanding issues with existing installations like the Garfield St Neighborhood Bikeway. It would be helpful if somebody could maybe put together a map so that we could compile these concerns all in one location.

As for LAMAR, we have some bus stops in the area that have notoriously been neglected by the prior advertising agency.  Could someone from your office please confirm with RTD that Lamar understands that they are responsible for clearing these bus stops and also follow up with DOTI neighborhood inspections on how to issue citations to Lamar the same as any adjacent property owner?

Thank you in advance!

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

HOUSING

Affordable Housing Purchase of Goodyear Site

In a 7–4 vote, Denver City Council rejected a proposal to spend $2.5 million from the city’s CIP contingency fund to acquire parcels at 1460 and 1480 Tremont Place for an affordable housing project. Critics cautioned that contingency funds are meant for emergencies, not speculative land deals. The decision underscores Denver’s tight fiscal constraints even as demand for housing affordability continues to soar across the city.  Councilmember Hinds voted in favor of this proposal because we have declared homelessness an emergency in Denver, and this was an opportunity for us to obtain 150 permanently affordable housing units at a very modest price.

Colfax Bus Rapid Transit Construction Underway

Construction on the Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line is officially underway and will continue in District 10 through 2026, bringing dedicated transit lanes, safer crossings, and improved streetscape design to Denver’s busiest corridor. To stay informed, neighbors can follow regular construction updates and project timelines at the official project page: denvergov.org/Colfax-BRT. As this major infrastructure investment progresses, the Colfax Business Districts remind us that small, locally owned businesses along Colfax need our support more than ever. Construction can be disruptive, but our continued patronage helps these community anchors thrive. Please shop local, dine local, and show love to our Colfax neighbors. #WeBackTheFax

RTD Construction & Service Alerts in District 10

RTD is continuing construction on stops throughout District 10, which may affect transit riders and drivers in the area. Most notably, southbound Kalamath Street will be fully closed from October 19–26, 2025, with detours in place. This also affects stops like 20th and Welton as well as near the Convention Center. Riders and commuters are encouraged to check RTD Service Alerts and follow project updates at RTD's website for the latest information. Details about the Kalamath closure are also available via local coverage. As you plan your trips—especially to popular spots like the City Park Farmers Market (Saturdays, 8 AM–1 PM through Oct 25) please allow extra time and stay informed.

Proclamation Supporting Disability Employment

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the talent, innovation, and economic strength people with disabilities bring to our workforce. Denver is proud to be a leader in accessibility and inclusive hiring, and this proclamation reaffirms our shared commitment to opportunity for all. When employers remove barriers and open doors, our entire community benefits: businesses gain dedicated team members, and Denverites of all abilities gain the dignity and independence that meaningful work provides. Thanks to all who joined us at the City Council meeting on Monday, October 20 at 5:30 PM to support the disability community and support inclusive employment.

An award titled Outstanding Animal Protector presented to Chris Hinds

Chris Hinds: Outstanding Animal Protector Award

On October 4, 2025, Councilmember Chris Hinds received the Outstanding Animal Protector Award from Colorado Voters for Animals, recognizing his leadership in passing legislation that bans the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in Denver pet stores. This policy closes the door on the puppy mill pipeline and promotes adoption through shelters and rescues instead. With more dogs than children living in District 10, animal welfare is a deeply held community value—and a personal priority for Councilmember Hinds. By championing compassionate, proactive legislation, he continues to ensure Denver remains a city that protects and celebrates all its residents—two- and four-legged alike.

Priorities & Values

District 10’s north star is a 20-minute neighborhood—where daily needs are a short walk, roll, or ride away. Councilmember Hinds’ work centers on three pillars: Housing that keeps neighbors in the city they love; Transportation that is safe, reliable, and accessible; and Representation that ensures every voice is heard. From zoning updates that add homes to transit projects that boost access, our approach is pragmatic and people-first. Explore priorities, track legislation, and find upcoming Coffee & Conversation dates on the District 10 website, and invite a neighbor to subscribe to this newsletter.
