Thank you for the invitation!

Could we please also consider...
- Shared-use bike & pedestrian connection from 13th & Williams entrance to the RTD Bus Stops
- Shared-use bike & pedestrian access connecting 11th Ave through the park?
- Restoring & upgrading the restrooms near the Pavilion
- Add restrooms & drinking fountain at or near the playground on the West side of the park

Maybe some of these could become Vibrant Denver Bond Projects if we're unable to complete them now.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

You're welcome!

Can you please relay some questions to the team to be answered at the public meeting?

- Can we plan to upgrade the restroom and water availability? I understand that we might not have the budget for this project, but maybe it can be a Vibrant Denver Bond project. That Park has no running water or functional plumbed restrooms.

- Will Cheesman Park remain Car-Free with the exception of 12th Ave? If so, Can we look into installing some combination of gates and removable bollards where the Jersey barriers & barricades are located?

- With the playground update can we plan to also upgrade the bike access to it from 11th? Maybe even connect through the center of the park along 11th from both sides. That Center sidewalk probably just needs to be lined with crusher fines on each side to give pedestrians a place to go when bikes are passing through.

- Will we plan for shared-use access from the Pedestrian entrance at 13th and Williams to the RTD bus stops?

Unrelated to the updates...
Can we please remove the Porta-potties from the main roadways in the park that are also bike routes?
Instead, could we move a couple over by the West playground and put two or three on the North side at Gilpin?

I put together a video explanation.

Hello again,

I wanted to follow up on this since I didn't get a response from anyone at Denver Parks & Recreation.

In short, ADA-compliant bus stop access to the North bus stops near the Tears-McFarlane House needs to be the priority.

I think we need a 6-ft wide sidewalk where the YELLOW line is marked & an 8-ft wide shared-use sidewalk where the GREEN line is marked. Note that railings at one or both sides of a ramp would mean an additional foot or so of clearance on each side for handlebars. (Go see Congress Park for examples of what NOT to do.)

Once this gets into the budget, we can then use the remainder for upgrading the playground area.

Thank you in advance for your help making Cheesman Park accessible to ALL!

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

Hello again,

I wanted to follow-up again since I didn't receive a response.
In addition to the other requests/suggestions, could we also consider modal-filters on 12th at each end of the park so that only RTD Buses & EMS can pass through directly?
This would maybe look like the Diverter installed on the W 35th Ave Neighborhood Bikeway at Irving. This would come from the DOTI budget, just asking if something like this would be possible. Maybe it's only a single concrete median that is wider with gates or removable bollards on each side. That way DPR could easily open the gates or remove the bollards to allow other service vehicles to enter or if they need to be opened temporarily for events.

12th Ave is a bike route, but there isn't any bike infrastructure West of Clayton.

This would go a long way to make 12th safer by reducing traffic & Cheesman Park safer as well.

Thank you in advance for your consideration to this & the prior requests.

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

Thank you for the reminder!

Can we please add or prioritize Shared-use connections & bus access to those locations?
- North bus stop from Williams
- South bus stop at 8th
- 11th Ave entrance to the playground
- 11th Ave shared-use connection through the park

Can we figure out a way to eliminate cut-through

Also, I think it's important to figure out a way to maintain bike through access or provide a detour during special events like Cheesman Park Artfest. I suggested this previously, but it seems to me that the Artsfest could easily be moved to the West or East side of Cheesman & be book-ended at 12th & 9th. Performers could then be nestled down in the Lilly Pond area OR be in the Pavillion. This will then allow bikes to use the shared-use sidewalk as a primary detour on the West side, or be forced to the West side if the East is closed.

Lastly, the West playground needs restrooms in the porta-potty shelters along the West shared-use sidewalk. The roadway is too far for parents with more than one child. It would be good to remove ALL Porta-potties on the roadways designated as bike routes. Wash Park doesn't seem to have a single porta-potty on the roadway, so I don't understand why they're being placed on the D11 Bike route in Cheesman when the North side has no restrooms at all & we could easily use the section of High St in the NE corner & the closed street off Gilpin.

Happy to provide more details if these requests don't make sense.

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

Thank you for sharing the video!

Any updates on the questions I asked previously, specifically regarding ADA-compliant bus stop access, shared-use access from Williams at 13th & 11th to the playground, as well as water & restroom access?

Thank you!
