Officer of the Month Nominations are chosen by review of daily, weekly and monthly District 2 Command staff notes, highlighting significant officer interactions on calls for service.  During these reviews, and unsolicited, command staff make note of exceptional police work.  At the end of each month command staff decides to select three officer interactions they feel are most worthy of positive recognition. These are the 3 nominations you see each month, being nominated for officer of the month.

All DPD District 2 community members are encouraged to vote! One vote per household please. To vote, reply to this email (christie...@denvergov.org)  with "Nomination A" or "Nomination B" or "Nomination C".  Please vote for only ONE nomination.  All votes must be received by March 27, 2026 - Thank you for participating!

Nomination A: Officer Ramon Ferrel and Officer Zach Parrish

Officer Ferrel and Officer Parrish were working a proactive assignment when they observed a suspicious Honda with mismatched license plates near E 36th Ave and N Quebec St. Before Officer Ferrel and Officer Parrish were able to activate their lights/sirens, the Honda accelerated through a red light, as if they knew officers would pull them over. The vehicle sped away but later crashed into another vehicle several blocks away. After witnessing the crash, Officer Ferrel and Officer Parrish rushed to the scene and were able to safely arrest both occupants of the Honda. The Honda was found to be stolen out of Aurora. The driver was found to have outstanding warrants and was charged for vehicular assault, eluding, motor vehicle theft and drug possession. The passenger in the Honda had several warrants for his arrest and charged with interference.

Nomination B: Officer Jason Franceschini and Officer Kevin Lee

Officer Franceschini and Officer Lee were conducting extra patrol at a store near E 36th Ave and N Quebec St when they observed a vehicle parked at the gas pumps. They noticed the car was occupied and running, but no one ever attempted to pump gas. Officers were able to confirm that the attached license plates did not belong on the car, a common practice for criminals. During their investigation, Officers contacted the driver and verified the car was stolen after locating the V.I.N. During an inventory search of the vehicle before towing, officers located a bank bag with a lock. Inside the bag, officers found a large amount of counterfeit U.S. currency in several different denominations. The vehicle was impounded and the suspect was charged for second degree motor vehicle theft.

Nomination C: Officer Jory Siler and Officer David Arnold

Officer Siler and Officer Arnold were patrolling the East Colfax Corridor as part of a proactive crime suppression effort in an area known for high levels of violent crime, narcotics activity, and auto theft. While on patrol, Officer Siler and Officer Arnold observed a male riding a bicycle illegally on the sidewalk near E. Colfax Avenue and N Willow St. The defendant was detained and identified via fingerprint reader, revealing two active warrants. A search incident to arrest uncovered significant evidence of narcotics distribution including a bag with suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl in individually packaged foil wrappers, large amount of U.S. currency, a digital scale, and paraphernalia indicative of drug use/sales. Officer Siler and Officer Arnold demonstrated exceptional vigilance, proactive policing, and professionalism during this incident. Their keen observation and thorough investigation led to the arrest of a wanted individual and the seizure of dangerous narcotics intended for distribution. Their actions directly contributed to reducing drug-related crime and improving safety in one of Denver’s most challenging corridors.
