Bill Schrader, the founder and developer of Nite Lights, will give a portion of all proceeds to the Michigan Veterans Home and a Memorial that will be built to honor our fallen soldiers from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Almost two miles of lights with life-size animated figures guaranteed to soften the heart of every Christmas Scrooge. “It not only gets West Michigan residents in the holiday spirit but it helps the unfortunate in our community at a time in need,” states Bill. This will be the twelfth year that Nite Lights has been at Fifth Third Ballpark and this year will bring more lights, with larger and new displays. “Every weekend Santa Claus will also be visiting with children of all ages. This is an opportunity for children and pets to have their photo’s taken with Santa Claus and make their Christmas wishes,” states Bill.

What makes the ice rink so popular? Could it be the thrill of skating on West Michigan's first refrigerated outdoor skating rink? Or, the "joy of skating under the stars and on top of the stars" as stated by Lou Rabaut, President of the Grand Rapids Griffins Youth Foundation. Perhaps it's the soaking in the ambiance given by Ecliptic - the notable artwork - designed by artist/architect Maya Lin. Whatever the reason, the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink is a very cool place to visit.
