okayso I just got the sims 2 and I am told I do not have directX 9.0c but went to microsoft and downloaded it and it said I had the same verion or newer version already instealled. I have direct x 11 on my graphics card. I can't seem to find the application to run the sims 2 in compatibilty mode in the origin games, the sims 2 section of my PC. I have repaired game and updated game but to no luck.
windows 7 64-bit home premium OS
8GB RAM
1GB nvidia geforce gtx 550 TI graphics card.
amd 8 core processor at 2.8ghz a core.
can anyone hlp me get the game working please?
this is the only message that appears to me when I try to play the game:
" The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff
Failed to find any Directx 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate"
again please and thank you for any and all help.
"The only thing you have to do is add a -w at the end of your normal shortcut.
Right-click on the game icon and select properties.
* At the very end of the Target path (after the "), put in a space then -w and click OK.
* If you want to have 2 separate icons (one for windowed mode, and one for regular), then just right-click on the game icon, select copy, then right-click again anywhere else on your desktop, select paste, and rename your shortcut and update the path accordingly. "
I had to download it a few times before the game would stop giving me that message, even though I was up to date. Maybe try running the install for the game as Admin as well? Also, Windowed mode, I guess could help? I put my game at windowed before launching it, but still got the same error. Either way, try both 'cause honestly you never know.
Hey putting it in window mode helped but the screen window is so small...is there a way to make it bigger??? I never had this problem on my old laptop so this is driving me insane lol and i dont want to always have it on my tv to really enjoy it
It doesnt matter what nvidia card(Compatible with windows 98) i use in which computer(Tried with three completely different), or in which installation(Tried it with the spanish version, english version, tried both with auto patcher for windows 98 and the unnoficial sp3 update on different installations). I use the 66.something version of the drivers and it work for short time, and then it appears in dxdiag like an nvidia gpu but with 2 GB of vram(????), directx no longer works and no game detects 3D acceleration. If i install the last version (81.98) something similar happens but yesterday on another attempt it corrupted my whole system, when it boots i get LOT of errors of illegal operations and never boots to the desktop.
Am i doing something wrong installing windows 98? Maybe the problem is me trying to install Directx 9.0c? Or maybe i should install first the drivers and then use the updater?. I dont know what to do, i dont think this happens to everyone trying to use an old nvidia card for windows 98 and retro gaming.
Try another type of win98se/me install media (except for select, the product key for that is unknown). The retail full version on here gave me trouble; the OS would corrupt after installing Office 2000.
