Irfanview Language

Ifyou want to translate IrfanView to another languages, download the language SDK:

Server 1, Server 2

Please check "README.TXT" file. You need "Microsoft Visual C++" or a tool like "RisohEditor" or "Resource Hacker" for translation.

Starting from version β0.4.11.61 the language file support for IrfanPaint is finally complete and working. For the end user the only thing to do is to put the language file in the Languages folder, with the IrfanView language file; IrfanPaint will automatically use the language file of the same language the user selected in IrfanView.

You can get the right language files from the release announcement page of each IrfanPaint release (see download section); keep in mind that the IrfanPaint language files for the versions bundled with IrfanView are already included in the IrfanView language packs.

Important: if you are going to use Unicode characters you must save the file in UTF-16 Little-Endian; this is also recommended if you are going to use characters included in the charset used in your nation but not in the standard ANSI charset. Many text editors can save in that format, even Notepad.

Anyone having ideas on adding Languages, as the Install Language extension to KADMOS gives Error 720 (Error on opening file containing the download directory on the internet server).

I found the Language extensions under Downloads menu here: -irfanview/

But I had no luck in being able to 'point' to the added language in the UI

Fellow @Moonbase user did have a very old comment on this language extention when IrfanView initially was announced Portable, maybe you are still around to answer ?

I have had similar behavior but I found out what was causing it accidentally hitting windows key plus space. I installed a German language keyboard installed in Language settings which I find for some reason, maybe hot key combos gets activated when I am using Rhino, completely changing how the keys on the keyboard work. When this happens I have to click on the icon and go back to English keyboard.

jandac -- I use Guiguts on Windows, and use HTML and CSS directly, with Guiguts help of course. I have not used ppgen (to generate html/css code), and would not be able to help you with that path to PPing. There is a lot to learn, something new with almost every book, but you have a guarantee that PPing will remain a rewarding challenge even after dozens (or hundreds!) of books.

LCantoni -- Happy to help with music projects only. I work in Windows, using Guiguts for text/HTML processing, Adobe Photoshop Elements and Irfanview for image processing, and Finale for music transcription. throth -- I am happy to help with English language projects, excluding Periodicals and Drama. I use Guiguts, Irfanview and Xnview under Windows and am happy with tables and monochrome illustrations. I use HTML only so no LaTeX or TEI. UK based.

rubycon Unfortunately, I'm not currently able to take on any new PPing students. I am still available to current and former students if they need me. NeverRed is a simple PowerShell script to download and install the latest version for several common enterprise Windows applications. The script consists a number of simple functions to use in EUC environments like:

The script uses an enumerated version notation. It can be assumed that the script undergoes changes on a regular basis. The version numbering is therefore intended to make it as easy as possible to track whether you are using the current version. See the Changelog for details of each change.

Some downloads unfortunately only work with PowerShell 7.x, so this version is recommended. PowerShell 7 can be installed via NeverRed. The script will detect this on the next startup and change the desktop shortcut to use PowerShell 7 on the next startup.

The settings regarding language (Select Language), architecture (Select Architecture) and installer type (Select Installer Type) can be adjusted individually for each software on the detail page. The settings on the detail page overwrite the global settings for the software.

All settings are saved locally in the LastSetting.txt file when you click on Save or Start and are automatically read from there the next time you start the program. By clicking on Save, the LastSetting.txt is created without starting an installation.

Additionally, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project can be selected. If this is the case, the install.xml for Microsoft 365 Apps or Microsoft Office is extended with the selected options.

In addition, you can select your own XML file under Custom Microsoft 365 Apps or Microsoft Office XML File and this will then be copied (overwrites any install.xml). The process for copying and renaming is triggered via Save and Start.

With the parameter -ESFile the GUI is not started to define the settings, but the passed configuration file is read, which was created before via the GUI method (LastSetting.txt).

For this purpose, the StartNeverRed.ps1 script should be adapted with regard to the correct path and the required configuration file. Afterward, the adapted script should be saved, e.g. in BIS-F under Custom Scripts.

During the download run, the version available on the Internet is compared with the local version, from the version file. If a newer version is available, the local installation files and the version file are deleted and the new software is downloaded and a new version file is created.

In addition it features drag and drop support, directory viewing, TWAIN scan support, slide shows, batch conversion, multi language support, thumbnail option, preview option, print option, IPTC edit, capturing, extract icons from EXE/DLL/ICLs, lossless JPG (Joint Photographic Expert Group) rotation, EXE/SCR creating, many hotkeys, many command line options and modifications such as changing color depth, crop, blur and sharpen.

Takes a bit of work, but you can translate pretty much everything in any language this way for free with minimal error. There are also translation sites where you can have people translate your work while you translate something for them (language exchange).
