Hello Everyone,

You can find the minutes for this weeks POWG meeting here.
https://docs.google.com/a/ukycc.org/document/d/1MyU5ffNP5pdSkm_aVT-cD3kJvW6JcGf3PThEJVDUuJU/edit?hl=en_US&authkey=CJabhbUG

If I've missed anything or made mistakes - I'm sure I have - let me
know!

I've AP'd people ( which means action point) it would be great if
everyone who has an AP next to their name can get that done by next
meeting!

The meeting lasted a whopping 3 hours!! So it was quite difficult to
minute so I've majorly cut down the content of what was discussed -
feel free to email me if you don't understand anything! I'm sure there
are many vague bits in there.

I would also like to suggest that next meeting that we actually hold a
Skype 'call' instead of a chat ( typing). The reason for this is,
looking back at the minutes, we didn't actually discuss much but due
to typing time the meeting took 3 hours when I'm sure it could have
taken an hour! Also when we use chat - I feel less 'bothered' to make
some comments because it takes too much time as opposed to talking.

I'm totally up for suggestions and if you don't agree that is totally
fine!

Thank you!

Fatima

Hi Fatima,
Thank you for update. Your suggestion is good. Talking instead of writing at the skype meeting will quicken up the process, however, my only worry is that, it will make writing and compiling the minutes more difficult.
Thanks

hi fatima!

sorry for the late reply - exams bit, and they bit hard. :-D
thanks for doing the minutes! i'm glad i didn't have to make sense of that long convoluted meeting, but you managed it really well. i'll see to my action points - have you heard anything about when our next meeting might be? i agree, an actual skype call might be more effective.
anyway, hope your exams went well!

many thanks,
ruth

Hi Ruth and Ebrima,

@Ebrima, we can use the chat and call. Whilst people talk they can
copy their main point/action points into the chat box. I can show
everyone a system that works very well for UKYCC. As the person
taking the minutes, i found it harder to trawl through the chat box +
I'm not too keen on 3 hour skype calls!

@Ruth, my exams are over thank God! Hope yours went well! As for the
next meeting, I'm not too sure, I'll ask LJ. But as far as i know
we're meant to have one every 2 weeks so i would suggest we have one
between the dates of June 30th - 7 July , this should give everyone
enough notice!

Hi Everyone,

Kristina, as coordinator of the group would you like to call or try and organise the next meeting, if you have the time?

Kind regards
Alex

hi!

i don't have ready access to the internet at the moment, so it might be a little difficult for me to make get to a meeting, but i will certainly try. is there another doodle up? another problem i have is that i can only get to the internet in public computer labs at the moment, so i wouldn't be able to participate in a skype call. i can definitely type though.

kind regards,
ruth

Hi all!

What i find difficult with conference calls on skype is that it people end up talking at the same time. But if it could be combined with a chat where people can ask to talk, and where people maybe can add their "++" or "--" as sign of approval/disapproval i think it could be good. I will be in Scandinavia the next weeks so will have better internet connection here than in South Africa too.

Hey Karolina,

UKYCC have a really good system that we use, so that we don' talk over each other and we have an effective meeting! I'm willing to run through it, in the next meeting - if we go for the call idea..

@LJ thanks! Good luck with your events.

hi fatima! i just discovered wiggio and its conference call function
has moderator functions :ie the person who set up the call can decide
whom to put on mute... But the call-in number unfortunately is US, so
some people may incur expensive charges. :( i am really interested in
what ukycc is using.. Cos skype mass voice keeps dropping out. So
it'll be great if u can explain your system :) thx! LJ
