I've got my scanner together. I've worked through the Cowtech Ciclop 3D Scanning Guide until page 23. Everything works until then. However when I run the Laser Triangulation calibration I get a message that says 'Laser triangulation has failed....' It seems to me that the lasers should have turned on during this calibration. Is that correct?

I ran the scanner autocheck and the lasers did not come on for that either. I'm thinking they should have. However when I go to the control workbench I can turn on both lasers just fine.

Can someone give me a little guidance so that I can make my way through the laser triangulation step of the process.

I appreciate people taking the time to give me a hand up. Enjoy your day.

If you just press scan, without running any calibrations, do the lasers come on? They should flash sequentially. They also should come on during triangulation and  autocheck.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the reply. When I press scan without running any calibrations I get the following error message: Calibration parameters are not correct. Please perform calibration process: 1) Scanner autocheck 2) Laser triangulation 3) Platform extrinsics. I attached a screen capture of the error message. While that error message is on the screen the lasers do not come on.

During laser triangulation the lasers do not come on, though the platform does a turn of 360 degrees in stages. The error message that pops up on the screen to show that there has been a laser triangulation error is attached to this message.

During scanner autocheck the lasers do come on right at the end of the autocheck and flash sequentially.

During calibration segmentation the lasers do come on.

Any thoughts on what to try next? I very much appreciate you taking time out to help me.

are the lasers vertical, and very thin?

Hi Klee,

The lasers are vertical and very thin. I actually quite pleased that I could get them so thin given the difficulty other folks had. I recently tried reinstalling Horus and playing around with some lighting but still no progress. I'll take and try any suggestions.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm still tinkering around with the scanner and haven't made any forward progress in the last month. I'd like to get the conversation restarted on this if I can. Here is what I'm struggling to get past:

I can get through all of the calibration stuff except the scanner autocheck and laser triangulations. I've played with lighting a lot but I think it comes down to the lasers not coming on at the end of the scanner autocheck and laser triangulation. When I go to the control workbench and turn them on the multimeter says that they both are at a little over 4 volts. During the scanner autocheck and laser triangulations they register at 0 volts the entire time. Can anyone tell me what they think might be going on?

Thanks,

Greg

Hi Simon,

I did not find a solution. After putting a lot of time into the project I decided to cut my loses and gave up. It seems to me that the software wasn't really at the stage of development that it needed to be to work with the scanner. I have kept the scanner stored away in case the software improves in the future.

I hope you have better luck.

Hi, I had the same problem today and I solved this by adjusting the parameters in the adjustment workbench. In calibration capture set capture mode to pattern and play with values until you see lines and dots on your calibration pattern. My theory is that if horus cant see the calibration pattern it will not even bother turning on the lasers and continue finding the pattern until it gives up.
I am not from english speaking country, so I hope that my text is understable and it will eventualy help someone.
