I got my scanner last week and assembled it. When watching the video I was sure that the stepper driver was in the correct orientation, but when I got to the scanning guide I realized that I had it upside down. I remember getting to the end of the video, turning and plugging in the power and seeing green lights, then I unplugged everything.
Then I read the scanning guide and realized I had the stepper driver upside down.
I flipped it, and started getting all the software installed.
When I plugged everything in on the Mac, I get a message saying that the USB device is drawing too much power. This is the same if the stepper driver is plugged in, or not plugged in. But if I unplug the shield, I don't get the "too much power" message. Also the LEDs are shining white, not green.
I thought I'd start fresh on a Windows PC. In Horus I couldn't connect with the shield plugged in, but wasn't getting an error message. With the shield unplugged, I uploaded the firmware to the Arduino, and I can connect to the camera and the board. But I can't connect to the board if the shield is plugged in.
I was thinking I needed a new stepper driver, but the problem is the same with the shield plugged in with or without the stepper driver.

I have the power connected to the barrel port on the shield, not the Arduino.
LED - grey to ground
Lasers - black wires twisted and both in the middle ground, in between the red laser wires.
Stepper motor - blue on the left

Please let me know what parts I need, or if there is anything I can do with the parts I have.

Thanks,
Foster

Following up on my previous question - I ended up talking with Jason and he sent me a new board and stepper driver. It sounded like I probably had blown the stepper driver during assembly, but there was a possibility that the board was faulty, too (unrelated issue). Jason wanted to make sure I got up and running and sent both just to be sure.

Everything is working great and I am getting awesome scans now. Thank you so much for the excellent customer support!
