Hi Peter,
I have been working on Gelatine – a user checkin-system that displays backgrounds/interests and areas of expertise of coworkers on public screens. the aim was to ice-break conversations and provide a better sense of "who is here"...

I love this! A footprint of your activity. Not only does it register your presence but it give back information to the space and encourages collaboration.
I like the hacker vibe to the physical interface too!

This is really fun! We are doing something similar with Nadine although it's far from being as polished as your implementation. We use an iPad for the checkin and I have a screen upstairs to display who's in the space today. If you are interested in helping out and contributing to Nadine it's all open source and continuously under slow development here at Office Nomads.

Well said Tony! This really peaks my interest as well and gets me thinking of how this could be implemented in a manner that is really clean and easily shared. Taking nothing away from the rough design of how theirs was done which was indeed "badass"!

Happy to hear your plan is to open source the code. I'm excited to take a look when you get it out there. It looks like there is a lot of overlap with where Nadine is at. Fascinating.... hmmm Mark, could we borrow your ideas but instead of printing a sheet it will output to a digital screen or an internal portal for members only?

The Nadine version of this broke when I recently upgraded to Django 1.5. I'm sure it's an easy fix but I've been too busy to dig into why the API stopped working. I'm going to start playing with it all again soon now that I'm upgrading our Twitter Alert light to include a screen. So many projects...
