TheLegacy Minecraft Launcher was discontinued on March 10, 2022. While it can still be downloaded, the launcher won't be able to install itself as the launcher.pack.lzma file required by the launcher is no longer available for download. This means that official support for Minecraft on Windows XP and Windows Vista was also discontinued as the new Minecraft Launcher can't run on these versions of Windows.
I tried loading a 1.9 resource pack in 1.11 and my java crashed then the computer (windows 7) blue screened and restarted. When I later tried restarting my Minecraft the launcher will come on but I can not do anything.
press your Windows+R keys, type in %AppData% at the dialog, and press Enter. In the window that appears, open the .minecraft directory, and delete everything except for the saves directory that you see therein. Then, try running Minecraft again
I recently saw DanTDM's video about Minecraft 2.0 (version from 2013's 1st april jokes) so I wanted to try it on my own. I remember installing custom/older versions on old launcher (the one before 1.11) so I thought that it should be easy. But I have problem, on this new launcher, when I transported the jar file to .miencraft/versions, launcher won't recognize it. Help please?
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Yesterday I tried to install forge 1.12.2 to use some mods, but when I opened up my launcher (I'm using the official Minecraft launcher) It wasn't showing up. I had installed a version of 1.14.3 forge previously, and it had shown up both automatically in the launcher and within the version drop down menu (1.12.2 wasn't showing up in either) I've tried both the installer and windows installer versions of 1.12.2 - 14.23.5.2768, 1.12.2 - 14.23.5.2838 and 1.12.2 - 14.23.0.2486 (all from the official forge website). The 1.12.2 forge versions are showing up within the versions folder, but each 1.12.2 forge version i have installed does not contain the executable jar file (which every other version (including 1.14.3 forge) contains) I have looked through other posts within this forum but none of them have been helpful (though I have seen a few people with similar issues). I also have the latest version of java installed, and I have played basic 1.12.2 previously. If you need anymore information please let me know, I will also attach screenshots to try to help.
Curse/Overwolf: If you are using the Curse Launcher, their configurations break Forge's log settings, fortunately there is an easier workaround than I originally thought, this works even with Curse's installation of the Minecraft launcher as long as it is not launched THROUGH Twitch:
When you have an issue with your mod the most helpful thing you can do when asking for help is to provide your code to those helping you. The most convenient way to do this is via GitHub or another source control hub.
When setting up a GitHub Repo it might seem easy to just upload everything, however this method has the potential for mistakes that could lead to trouble later on, it is recommended to use a Git client or to get comfortable with the Git command line. The following instructions will use the Git Command Line and as such they assume you already have it installed and that you have created a repository.
According to the Minecraft Wiki page for the Launcher,it should be possible to run the Minecraft launcher using username and password prefixes from the command line and go directly to the game instead of through the launcher.
To run Minecraft with Forge (change C:\Users\nov11\AppData\Roaming/.minecraft/to your MineCraft path :) [Just for people who are a bit too lazy to search on Google...]Special thanks to ammarx for his TagAPI_3 (Github) which was used to create this command.Arguments are separated line by line to make it easier to find useful ones.
As of 4/29/2017 the Minecraft launcher for Windows extracts all native files and places them info %APPDATA%\Local\Temprandom folder. That folder is temporary and is deleted once the javaw.exe process finishes (when Minecraft is closed). The location of that temporary folder must be provided in the launch arguments as the value of
Also, the latest launcher (2.0.847) does not show you the launch arguments so if you need to check them yourself you can do so under the Task Manager (simply enable the Command Line tab and expand it) or by using the WMIC utility as explained here.
If you want to make a custom launcher using the command line then good luck, the only way to login to the minecraft jar(IE: the way the launcher does it) is to send a post request to with the username, password, launcher version, and a RSA key. It then parses the pseudo Json, and uses the session token from that to authenticate the jar from the command line with a load of arguments.
To get started with minecraft-launcher-lib, you need a Minecraft Directory first. You can use a new directory or the default Directory of Minecraft. You can get the default Directory with get_minecraft_directory().
The Username and UUID belongs to a Account. Since Name and UUID are public, the Token is used to log in. The token is generated every time when a User logs in with his Microsoft Account. Minecraft can be launched with a not existing user and a wrong token. This can be used for test cases. minecraft-launcher-lib allows creating a dict with a test user.
