The dogs were brought to Florida-based Big Dog Ranch Rescue on what is referred to as a "freedom ride," and the animals will finally get the love and attention they deserve. A large, converted Greyhound bus lined with dog crates delivered the rescues to Big Dog Ranch Rescue in the pouring rain after a 30-hour drive.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue made the trip to Minnesota and South Dakota to rescue dogs and puppies. Sixty-two dogs were rescued from a puppy mill breeder in Edgerton, Minnesota, who was retiring and shutting down the facility. Another 10 dogs were rescued in Luverne, Minnesota. The rest of the dogs were saved from a reservation in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that was abandoned.

The dogs were put under a two-week quarantine after arriving at the Florida facility on October 11. They will meet with the medical staff and undergo in-depth examinations, spaying and neutering, microchipping, dental checkups and vaccinations. In about two weeks, they will be ready for adoption or fostering.

The employees and volunteers had to carry the dogs off the bus because many did not even know how to walk. Now, it's a slow process getting them used to walking on a leash and to human touch, as well as letting them know they will not be hurt.

"It is so fulfilling to watch them day by day blossom," Big Dog Ranch Rescue's CEO and founder, Lauree Simmons, told Newsweek. "It's amazing how resilient they are, for the amount of suffering they experienced, to be able to bounce back."

Big Dog Ranch Rescue, which has a 33-acre campus, focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing animals. Its team goes to wherever there is a need: disaster situations, hurricanes, floods or breeders closing. Since opening in 2008, it has saved over 59,000 dogs. The rescue center recently expanded to Alabama, with plans to raise enough money to open a facility in Texas.

Because some puppy mills have received bad press in the past for their neglect and abuse of dogs, they are reaching out more frequently to shelters to see if they can take dogs they no longer need, Simmons said. She hopes this trend continues.

Each year, 6.3 million pets are surrendered to U.S. shelters, which comes to an average of 17,260 a day, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The number of dogs and cats taken in by pet shelters hit 46,807 this past January, an increase of 1,744 compared with January 2022, the 24Petwatch's Shelter Watch Report found.

Around 920,000 surrendered animals are euthanized every year. Shelters are striving to minimize euthanasia rates by promoting adoption campaigns, spaying and neutering programs and behavior rehabilitation.

It is later revealed by Defalt that she was hired to track down Aiden and Damien after the Merlaut job in order to place a hit on them. This leads to Aiden shoving Clara away, even as she tries to apologize.

After getting Nicole and Jackson out of town, and after killing Dermot "Lucky" Quinn, Aiden learns from Damien that Clara had tried to trade herself in for Nicole. Aiden realizes that Damien intends to have her eliminated, and heads to the cemetary, where Clara is visiting Lena's grave to place flowers there. Just then, fixers from the Chicago South Club locate her at the graveyard. Alerted by T-Bone, Aiden races to her, but is too late to save her from being shot to death. After dispatching the fixers, Aiden gives Clara a moment of silence before taking her phone. He listens to Clara's last voicemail to him. In it, she talks about first seeing Aiden and Jackson playing chess in the park, after Lena's funeral; and explains her reasons for helping him "heal" from Lena's death. The message ends with Clara saying that if they cannot talk when "this is all over", she can "at least disappear. That's something I'm good at."

Clara is a Caucasian female with a slender build. She has long brown hair with white highlights, cut into a mohawk like style that stops about shoulder length. She wears silver flesh tunnels in both ears and has three facial piercings: both cheeks and a labret (lower lip). She also wears black eyeliner with a touch of eyeshadow. Clara also appears to have tattoos on her upper chest, neck and arms.

Clara wears a low-cut, black DedSec top and above, she wears a black, short-sleeve leather jacket. The cleavage area slightly reveals a black bra. She wears a long necklace and a number of wrist bangles and accessories. This also includes a ring on her index and middle finger of her right hand and another ring on her ring finger of her left hand. Clara's dark-themed appearance is continued by her use of black nail polish/varnish, with a white star and curve.

Clara can easily read people through their actions. This is seen when Aiden apologized for being rough on her. She explained that she knew what he was doing to try and intimidate her with the stare, contact and strong stance he displayed to try and find "cracks" in her.

It's also obvious that Clara was haunted by the fact she placed the hit on Aiden, ordered by "Lucky" Quinn, that led to Lena's death. It is the guilt she felt that she decided to work with Aiden to "help [him] heal" as well as herself from the guilt of causing a child's death.

In the Mission Remember, Nicole asks Aiden if he knows who keeps leaving the dark flowers on Lena's grave. There is reason to believe it was Clara, leaving the flowers out of guilt and repentance. This is shown true that at the end of the game: when Clara supposedly dies, Aiden finds the same kind of flowers beside her.

During one of her numerous visits to the grave of Lena Pearce, Clara was ambushed by hired fixers sent by Lucky Quinn. Rushing as fast as he could, Aiden got there too late, as he watch Clara get shot to death by numerous fixers, the flowers still in her hand.

At first Clara and Aiden do not trust each other and visible tension can be seen between the two in their early interactions. Though she cannot be trusted, Clara forms an alliance with Aiden, sharing common ground through being hackers.

Later on, the two grow to truly care about each other, with Aiden saying she is the closest he has to having a good friend. It can be implied by her dialogue and her behavior that she might have fallen in love with him. But she is now no longer living.

Clara was hired by Lucky to track down Aiden and Damien, while Clara was the one who gave the Chicago South Club the names it was him who truly ordered the hit. It was due to this job that Clara felt compelled to help Aiden not only to heal him but to hopefully make up for what she unwittingly had done.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a part of the Metal Gear series, but where those games focused on stealth and espionage Rising focuses on fast paced action and slashing up tons of enemies. But I was surprised to find that Rising actually feels a lot like a Metal Gear Solid game, which at times I wished it didn't.

The story of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is set after the events of MGS4. You play as Raiden, who is now working for Maverick a Private Military Company. His company and himself are protecting a VIP when they're attacked. The VIP is killed and Raiden badly wounded. He gets fixed up, and in doing so becomes even more cyborg then before, and more powerful. He then begins his journey to take down the people who attacked him and then save some brains or stop an attack on the president.
