Makethis a family holiday tradition, and call today to make your reservations (because space is limited to those who truly believe in the spirit of Christmas). The ride lasts a little over an hour, with the train leaving each night at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

If you booked a Polar Express package, you will receive your train tickets upon check-in at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel front desk. Will call train tickets will be distributed at the ticket counter inside the Grand Canyon Railway Depot, located next to the Fred Harvey Restaurant. The guest who was responsible for payment will need to present a photo I.D. to receive train tickets.

We recommend arriving at least one hour before departure. This should provide enough time to pick up tickets at will-call and be ready to board The Polar Express. The train will begin boarding 15 minutes before departure. You can certainly pick up your tickets earlier. Tickets will be available at noon (12:00 PM) on the day of your departure.

The passenger cars have luggage racks near the ceiling so feel free to bring coats, diaper bags, camera bags, backpacks and anything else you need. Even though the cars have luggage racks, we recommend only bringing what you really need on the train. Strollers can be parked outside the depot. There is a limited amount of space in the vestibules (between the cars) on the train, but we recommend parking strollers by the depot as there are plenty of covered areas. Also, all families are encouraged to bring their own copy of The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg to read along to the story during the journey. Brand new copies are available for purchase at the Depot and Fred Harvey Restaurant Gift Shops.

Seats on board The Polar Express are bench-style, with two passengers per bench. Booking seats in even numbers is strongly recommended. If your family is traveling with another family on a separate reservation and would like to be seated together, please contact Central Reservations at 1-888-848-3511. While we do our very best to honor all seating requests on board The Polar Express, we cannot always guarantee them.

Due to the age of the equipment not all rail cars are ADA accessible. Please contact our Central Reservations Department for arrangements at least 7 days prior to arrive so we may make arrangements for your family.

Note: Please plan to arrive 45-minutes prior to departure to allow time to park and pick up your tickets. We begin boarding 30-minutes prior to departure and cannot hold the train for late passengers. Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you aboard!

Just like the Santa Express Train, the Holiday Train travels through the Royal Gorge for a round-trip journey. While Santa does not join us aboard the Holiday Train, railcars are decorated beautifully to celebrate the season. The Holiday Train is a relaxed affair for guests of all ages. To learn more about the Holiday Train, click here.

We recommend arriving at least 45 minutes in advance of your scheduled departure time to get your photos and golden tickets to take onboard. Early arriving passengers may be allowed to pre-board to get settled in for the unforgettable journey ahead. Please note that all guests are assigned seating and arriving early does not allow you to pick your seats.

Lunch and dinner is additional and may be pre-ordered while booking your tickets, or purchased while aboard the train. Soft drinks and beverages from the bar may also be ordered while aboard the train!

Make your holiday memories last by taking home a beautiful custom Santa Express Premium Photo Folio. Our professional photographers will put your family in the middle of the holiday action with our custom winter, train-in-the-gorge holiday background. Folios include your family photo and a magical Santa Express Golden Ticket punched by the Conductor. Pre-purchase for $30 now, or purchase on site for $35 when you ride.

Please note that we seat in parties of 4. In the tradition of railroad fine dining, parties of 2 will most likely be seated across from another couple. Most of our guests enjoy meeting fellow rail fans. When seated with another couple, you and your guest will be seated on the same side. Larger groups will be seated in adjacent rows.

Every effort will be made to accommodate any special dietary or physical needs. For questions about the accessibility of the train, its different classes, or if you would like to be seated with another party, please call the reservations department at 719.276.4000 prior to booking a reservation on our web site.

Wheelchair Accessibility: The train only can accommodate a limited number of wheelchair patrons per each train departure. The Vista Dome is not accessible to wheelchairs. Guests must be able to climb 14 steps themselves in order to sit in the Dome Cars.

The Royal Gorge Route follows restaurant health codes. Only licensed, certified service animals are allowed on the train. Any other animals, including emotional support animals, are not allowed on the train.

Hop aboard the Santa Express Train and experience a one-of-a-kind holiday adventure through the Royal Gorge and Colorado Rockies. Departing daily from the Santa Fe Depot in Canon City throughout the holiday season.

Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, this 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain's most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis!

The train stops en route to Mallaig at the village of Glenfinnan (see below and subject to time permitting). Beyond Glenfinnan are the beautiful villages of Lochailort, Arisaig, Morar and Mallaig. You may alight at Arisaig by request to the guard. From here, on a clear summer's day, you can see the "Small Isles" of Rum, Eigg, Muck, Canna and the southern tip of Skye. The train continues on from here passing Morar and the silvery beaches used in the films "Highlander" and "Local Hero".

Fort William, the largest town in the Highlands and situated at the southern end of the Great Glen, lies in the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britains highest mountain. This area is a fine location to use as a base to discover the West Highlands.

We cross the 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct (a location made famous in the Harry Potter films) which overlooks Loch Shiel and the Jacobite monument. The train may pause on the viaduct, time permitting, to allow you to take in the magnificent view. Subject to time permitting, we will stop at Glenfinnan station. Once stopped in Glenfinnan there will be time to stretch your legs and, if you wish, visit the West Highland Railway Museum located in the restored station building. The Jacobite may also stop at Arisaig by request to the guard.

The village of Arisaig (the Safe Place) is centred on the sheltered shore of Loch nan Ceall (Loch of the Cells). From this very tranquil village it is possible to take the boat, The Sheerwater to the Small Isles (until mid September). The local Highland Games takes place here annually on the last Wednesday in July at Traigh Farm.

The end of the line, Mallaig was founded during the 1840s when the owner of the North Morar Estate, Lord Lovat, divided up the farm on the coast here into a series of parcels of land and encouraged his tenants living around Loch Morar and Loch Nevis to resettle in what became Mallaig and establish a fishing village. Today Mallaig is a busy fishing port and ferry terminal with services to Skye, the Small Isles and to the Knoydart Peninsula to visit Inverie and the most remote pub on mainland Britain, The Old Forge. In addition, you can board MV Western Isles for a scenic Wildlife Cruise. Arriving in Mallaig we have over an hour and a half to enjoy a walk round and take in the atmosphere: there are shops, bars, restaurants and plenty of fish and chips to be enjoyed during the lunchtime stopover.
