Hello!

I find this project extremely intriguing and I am trying to set up a course, but I'm running into a problem I'm not able to figure out; I'd appreciate help with this!

I used the app engine launcher, and the course works on localhost, but after I deploy the thing, and try to access it on the appspot domain, I get an error:

500 Internal Server Error

The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation.

I have edited only the app.yaml, course.yaml and course_template.yaml files.

Please let me know where I could be going wrong?

Thanks in advance!

PS: My domain is aiesecindia-gcdp-intermediate. appspot .com

Hi Pratheek,
Can you check out the spacing of your .yaml files to see if there could be an issue there? This topic has more information https://groups.google.com/d/msg/course-builder-forum/giLkVy28fyU/auJoxTBBCx4J

Hi Pratheek,
I used the files you sent to me and there is nothing wrong with them. I copied and pasted them into another fresh version of CB and deployed without issue.
I had forgotten before, but 500 errors are usually based on changes to view files and totally blank application is due to changes in .yaml spacing.

I'd copy those files into a completely new download of CB without changing any other files and you should be fine.

Citizen Maths has worked faultlessly for several months, but as of this morning we are getting a 500 Server error from https://citizenmaths1.appspot.com/course.

Meanwhile, a python script that we run routinely to extract user data from the App Engine is working fine.

I am attaching the error message from the log files that may be associated with the problem.

What are my options?

My instinct is to disable and reenable the application from the App Engine console. Is this a safe thing to do?

I would be happy to give someone at the Google end admin access to our GCB instance if that would/could help solve the problem.

I decided to shut down the longest running App Engine instances that were visible on the console.

This has resolved the problem for the time being and the site is working again OK.

I checked with the community manager for Google and it is a known bug.

The problem is that you need to delete old (anything older than 2 weeks), unused instances.  This is an App Engine bug and he is going to file an internal bug with the GAE team about this.
