spam????

Hi Folks

Can we confirm that our emails are not being sold on or given on to any
3rd parties as since I joined up with the programs I have started
getting spam on an email addy that has been clean for years.

Anyone else noticed anything?

Hi George,

Well, I can certainly guarantee it from the BBS side of things, and I
would be extremely amazed if it was happening from either MM or MD...
but I can't speak for them. Do they have it written on their
websites, I guess I need to look.
But the whole idea of selling our email addresses would be quite
ludicrous as really, they only want to keep you for themselves.

One thing I can say though is that I've known this type of thing
happen before... let me try to explain as best I understand it: When
a site suddenly gets lots of traffic to it, there can be a way that
these potential spammers can harvest your email address from that...
somehow. There is a name for it which I can't think of at the
moment.

What I will do is contact both Fred and Grant and tell them of the
problem. I think they have to do a daily sweep of their programs to
wipe out this type of nuisance activity.

I do apologise that my explanation is a bit "out there" and maybe
someone else would be able to better explain it.

As you know, I monitor this google group, and it's just as well I do
because daily I'm deleting spam from it. Seems to me it happens
everywhere, with everything :-(

I don't know who jamit2day is, but I really apologise to you... maybe
this google groups isn't such a good idea. I mean, I get spam
messages sent to it every day which I can delete before they get
posted... which is really annoying.

Anyone else finding problems? If so, let's close it down and we'll
stick with the forum.

Hi Marilyn, 1) What a load of codswallop! There is nothing wrong
with this Google Group - except that it is not being used enough by
its contributors.

2) First there is poor old George, thinking that he is getting Sp*m
because of it.
Well, the reaction of others prove that it is NOT our Group at fault!

I am sure it is NOT the google group generating spam.

I am guessing they are speaking about certain emails from our distant
upline, that happen to find their way into our emails once a week or so.
