Eco-friendly concrete countertops
As more consumers want to reduce the environmental impact of a new

Syndecrete, an alternative to nonrenewable and petroleum-based
materials, is an advanced cementitious composite using natural
minerals and recycled materials as its primary ingredients. The solid
surface material is less than half the weight, but twice the
compressive strength, of ordinary concrete and does not contain
polymers or resins.
The material is more resistant to potential chipping and cracking than
conventional concrete, tile and stone, and its workability is more
similar to wood than cement-based products. Syndecrete is offered in
precast pieces; and integral pigmentation and aggregates, such as
bottle glass, tempered glass, wood chips, metal shavings and shells,
can be added for a custom look. The company creates one-of-a-kind
pieces and also offers a standardized product line in 13 trademarked
